There are approximately 42 million licensed drivers aged 65 years or older in the United States, who face unique age-related risks while driving. While physical activity affects several chronic conditions thought to be associated with motor vehicle crashes (MVCs), it is unclear if increased physical activity leads to fewer MVCs. This study explores whether self-reported vigorous and moderate physical activity is associated with MVCs in the previous year.

Background In statin trials, men and women derived similar relative risk reductions in cardiovascular events per 39 mg/ dL low-density lipoprotein cholesterol ( LDL -C) reduction. We explored whether lower LDL -C levels and greater LDL -C percentage reductions than those achieved with statins are associated with reduced major adverse cardiovascular event ( MACE ) rates in women as well as men. Methods and Results Data pooled from 10 phase 3 ODYSSEY randomized trials (n=4983) comparing alirocumab with control (placebo/ezetimibe) were assessed for association between 39 mg/dL lower on-treatment LDL -C and percentage LDL -C change from baseline, and MACE risk by sex, using multivariable Cox regression.

Objectives: Strategies were explored to improve patient adherence to cardioprotective medications by borrowing from a motivational framework used in psychology, regulatory focus theory. The current study is part of a larger randomized control trial and was aimed at understanding what written educational messages, based on patients' regulatory focus tendency, resonated with each individual as a potential reminder to take medications. This study was also aimed at understanding why messages resonated with the patients.

Hamartomas are tumours composed of mesenchymal tissues such as cartilage, fat, connective tissue and smooth muscle and can be found in virtually any organ system. These masses commonly develop sporadically, but are also seen in certain syndromes such as tuberous sclerosis or Carney triad. While their imaging appearance varies depending on the organ they arise from, findings are usually unique and a diagnosis can be confidently made.
