The olfaction is related to flow in the olfactory cleft. However, There is a lack of studies on the relationship between flow characteristics of the olfactory cleft and olfactory function. In this study, the anatomical structure of the olfactory cleft was reconstructed in three dimensions using the raw data obtained from the CT scans of sinuses of 32 enrolled volunteers.

Background: Aging of neck and jawline skin is caused by intrinsic and extrinsic factors and is evidenced by wrinkling, laxity, skin dyspigmentation, loss of the mandibular contour, accumulation of submental fat, density loss, and prominent platysma bands. Early intervention with topical cosmeceuticals, especially in younger subjects with "tech neck," can offer a solution and potentially mitigate aging of the neck and jawline.
Aim: The objective of this prospective, open-label, single-center clinical study was to assess the efficacy and tolerability of a topical anti-aging neck treatment (TNT) in a cohort of Chinese women with mild to moderate signs of aging on the neck and jawline.

Objective: Airflow in the olfactory fissure region is a necessary condition for olfaction. However, due to the complex anatomy of the olfactory fissure, it is difficult to characterize the airflow in this region. At present, there are few studies on the airflow characteristics of the olfactory fissure.

Purpose: Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser syndrome (MRKHS) is characterized by congenital absence of the uterus, cervix, and the upper part of the vagina in females. Whole-gene deletion and loss-of-function variants in TBX6 have been identified in association with MRKHS. We aimed to expand the spectrum of TBX6 variants in MRKHS and explore the biological effect of the variant alleles.

Data are limited on the relationship between the cardio-ankle vascular index (CAVI) and non-insulin-based insulin resistance (IR) indices, including the triglyceride to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (TG/HDL-C), fasting triglyceride and glucose index (TyG), and metabolic score for IR (METS-IR). In this study, we explored the relationship between TG/HDL-C, TyG, METS-IR, and the risk of increased arterial stiffness (CAVI ≥ 8.0) and compared their ability to detect arterial stiffness in the non-hypertensive Chinese population.

Purpose: Repeated instillations of bacillus Calmette et Guérin (BCG) are the gold standard immunotherapeutic treatment for reducing recurrence for patients with high-grade papillary non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) and for eradicating bladder carcinoma-in situ. Unfortunately, some patients are unable to tolerate BCG due to treatment-associated toxicity and bladder removal is sometimes performed for BCG-intolerance. Prior studies suggest that selectively delipidated BCG (dBCG) improves tolerability of intrapulmonary delivery reducing tissue damage and increasing efficacy in preventing Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection in mice.

Background: Previous genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have identified numerous risk genes for lacunar stroke, but it is challenging to decipher how they confer risk for the disease. We employed an integrative analytical pipeline to efficiently transform genetic associations to identify novel proteins for lacunar stroke.
Methods: We systematically integrated lacunar stroke genome-wide association study (GWAS) (N=7338) with human brain proteomes (N=376) to perform proteome-wide association studies (PWAS), Mendelian randomization (MR), and Bayesian colocalization.

Introduction: Esophagogastric junction (EGJ) carcinomas develop in the transition zone between the esophagus and stomach. The incidence of EGJ carcinoma has steadily increased over the past few decades. Most patients are first diagnosed at an advanced stage, which renders them ineligible for surgery.

Background: Wilson disease (WD) and retinitis pigmentosa (RP) are common genetic disorders in clinical practice, however, the concurrence of WD and RP has never been reported before. WD occurs due to mutations that cause copper metabolic abnormalities; in turn, change in copper metabolism has been suggested to be related with RP. Here, we report the first case of concurrent WD and bilateral RP, and investigate possible pathogenesis to illuminate whether the two genetic disorders are causality or coincidence.

Objectives: Diabetic nephropathy (DN), one of the major complications of diabetes mellitus, is the major cause of end-stage renal failure that finally increases the risk of cardiovascular disease and mortality. The aim of this study is to explore the relationship between serum lipocalin-2 (LCN-2) levels and DN and carotid atherosclerotic plaque (CAP) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).
Methods: We have performed a prospective study of 749 T2DM patients with or without DN.

Previous investigations have reported that microRNA-126 (miR-126) and its host gene, epidermal growth factor-like domain-containing protein 7 (EGFL7) are involved in lung cancer progression, suggesting EGFL7 and miR-126 play a joint role in lung cancer development. In this study, we analyzed the methylation-associated regulation of EGFL7 and miR-126 in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and further investigated the association between EGFL7/miR-126 polymorphisms and NSCLC susceptibility in the Han Chinese population. Based on our data, relative to those in adjacent normal tissue, both EGFL7 expression and miR-126 expression were decreased significantly in lung cancer tissue ( = 3x10 and < 1x10), and the expression of EGFL7 mRNA and miR-126 was significantly correlated in both NSCLC tissue n = 46, r = 0.

Developing guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of common cancers in China based on the evidence-based practice, the availability of diagnosis and treatment products, and the up-to-date advances in precision medicine is one of the basic tasks of the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology (CSCO). In recent years, the availability of medical resources has become a major concern in clinical guidelines, which is particularly important for developing countries or socioeconomically diverse countries and territories. China is the world's largest developing country, with a large territory and uneven economic and academic developments.

Background: COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) seriously endangers people's lives. The variation in SARS-CoV-2 makes the research and development of vaccines and specific drugs particularly important. However, the prevention and diagnosis of COVID-19 cannot be underestimated in the control of the epidemic.

The authors aimed to characterize the relationships between non-insulin-based insulin resistance (IR) indexes and the risk of prehypertension, and to compare their abilities to identify prehypertension. The authors recruited 3274 adults who did not have hypertension and were not taking hypoglycemic or lipid-lowering medications. The triglyceride-to-high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol ratio (TG/HDL-C), fasting triglyceride and glucose index (TyG), and metabolic score for IR (METS-IR) were calculated.

Objectives: To develop and validate a deep learning model for predicting overall survival from whole-brain MRI without tumor segmentation in patients with diffuse gliomas.
Methods: In this multicenter retrospective study, two deep learning models were built for survival prediction from MRI, including a DeepRisk model built from whole-brain MRI, and an original ResNet model built from expert-segmented tumor images. Both models were developed using a training dataset (n = 935) and an internal tuning dataset (n = 156) and tested on two external test datasets (n = 194 and 150) and a TCIA dataset (n = 121).

Overcoming the bacterial infection and promoting angiogenesis are challenge and imperious demands in wound healing and skin regeneration. Hereby, we developed a multifunctional AMP/S1P@PLA/gelatin wound dressing fabricated by electrospinning poly (L-lactic acid) (PLA)/gelatin with antimicrobial polypeptides (AMPs) and sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) in order to inhibit the bacteria growth and induce angiogenesis. In our work, AMP/S1P@PLA/gelatin wound dressing was obtained by two-step method of electrospinning and dopamine adsorption.
