In this study the use of negative electrospray ionisation mode as a confirmation tool for identifying derivatized amino acids using LC-ESI-MS, was evaluated. The derivatization reagent was based on azobenzene N-hydroxysuccinimide carbamate. The results indicate that even though negative ionisation mode produced less intense peaks, the ratio of peak area of quantifier ion (obtained in positive mode) to the qualifier (or identifier) ion measured in negative mode meets the requirements established by two prominent validation guidelines: SANTE/11312/2021 and 2002/657/EC.

The study was designed to assess the prevalence of pregnancy and delivery associated risk factors in children suffering from neonatal or presumed periventricular venous infarction. Antenatal records and pregnancy outcome data were retrospectively assessed in children with presumed periventricular venous infarction (n = 43, born ≥36 gestational weeks) or neonatal periventricular venous infarction (n = 86, born <36 gestational weeks) and compared to a matched control group (n = 2168, ≥36 gestational weeks) from a prospective study. Children with presumed periventricular venous infarction had significantly more maternal bacterial infections compared to the control group (47% vs 20%, respectively, < .

Measuring direct oral anticoagulant (DOAC) concentrations might be necessary in certain clinical situations but is not routinely performed. The DOAC Dipstick is a new rapid test for detecting DOACs in urine. The aim of this study was to evaluate the possible uses and limitations of the DOAC Dipstick and to compare visual analysis and DOASENSE Reader analysis of DOAC Dipstick pads.
