Individuals often need to make quick decisions based on incomplete or "noisy" information. This requires the coordination of attentional, perceptual, cognitive, and behavioral mechanisms. This poses a challenge for isolating the unique effects of each subprocess from behavioral data, which reflect the summation of all subprocesses combined.

Recurring Parent-Child Conflict: A Mediator between Parental Anger Management and Adolescent Behavior.

Fam Consum Sci Res J

September 2022

Department of Agricultural Economics, Sociology, and Education, The Pennsylvania State University, Armsby Building, University Park, PA 16802, USA.

Guided by social learning theory, this longitudinal study examined whether parent-child recurring conflict mediated the association between parental anger management, an understudied antecedent to parent-child recurring conflict, and adolescent deviant and problem-solving behaviors in 415 rural families. Parental use of anger management in 6 grade was associated with less parent-child recurring conflict in 9 grade, which was associated with more adolescent problem-solving behavior in 11 grade. Family practitioners seeking to promote adolescent problem-solving behaviors may consider teaching families strategies for reducing parent-child recurring conflict and fostering parental anger management.

Fluorine incorporation into organic molecules has increased due to desirable changes in the molecular physiochemical properties. Common fluorine motifs include: aliphatic fluorines and -CF, or -F containing groups bonded directly onto an aromatic (Ar-CF and Ar-F) or heteroaromatic ring. Photolysis of these compounds, either in natural or engineered systems, is a potential source of new fluorinated byproducts.

Alginate-Encapsulated Bacteria for the Treatment of Hypersaline Solutions in Microbial Fuel Cells.

Chembiochem

April 2018

Departments of Chemistry and Materials Science and Engineering, University of Utah, 315 S 1400 E Room 2020, Salt Lake City, UT, 84112, USA.

A microbial fuel cell (MFC) based on a new wild-type strain of Salinivibrio sp. allowed the self-sustained treatment of hypersaline solutions (100 g L , 1.71 m NaCl), reaching a removal of (87±11) % of the initial chemical oxygen demand after five days of operation, being the highest value achieved for hypersaline MFC.

April 2008

Department of Physical Education, College of Saint Benedict, 37 South College Avenue, Saint Joseph, MN 56374, USA.

Objective: The authors examined the effect of certified personal trainer services on exercise behavior by using the transtheoretical model of behavioral change.

Methods: Students receiving personal trainer services during the fall semester (experimental group, n = 31) were cross-matched with students who had not received services (control group, n = 31).
