Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is the sixth leading cause of death due to cancer, indicating that finding new therapeutic targets or approaches for ESCC treatment is imperative. Transient Receptor Potential cation channel subfamily M, member 2 (TRPM2) is a calcium-permeable, nonselective cation channel that responds to reactive oxygen species (ROS), which are found in the tumor microenvironment and are important regulators of tumorigenesis, cell proliferation, apoptosis, and the therapeutic response. Here, we used immunohistochemical analysis of tumor tissue derived from patients with ESCC to find that the TRPM2 channel protein expression level was increased in tumor tissue compared with adjacent normal tissue.

The experimental research of many scholars, as well as scientific and technological advancements, has allowed prokaryote-derived CRISPR/Cas genome-editing systems to transform our ability to manipulate, detect, image, and annotate specific DNA and RNA sequences in the living cells of diverse species. Through modern genetic engineering editing technology and high-throughput gene sequencing, we can edit and splice covalently closed circular DNA to silence it, and correct the mutation and deletion of liver cancer genes to achieve precise in situ repair of defective genes and prohibit viral infection or replication.

The objective of this study was to investigate the between autophagy activity and local immune response in hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (HSCC). Herein, we observed the expression of autophagy marker microtubule-associated protein light chain 3B (MAP1LC3B), CD8 cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs), CD39 (regulatory T cells Tregs) and CD163 (tumor-associated macrophages TAMs) in HSCC, and determined the prognostic roles of CD8/CD39 and CD8/CD163 in patients with HSCC. The expression of light chain 3B (LC3B) and CD8/CD39 was found to be significantly lower in HSCC tissues than in adjacent non-tumor mucosa tissue samples; LC3B expression was positively correlated with the infiltration rate of CD8/CD39 in HSCC.
