Context: Collegiate female distance runners may be at risk for low energy availability (LEA) due to increased exercise energy expenditure with or without decreased energy intake. Furthermore, this population has increased risk of disordered eating (DE), which can lead to LEA and negative health consequences, such as menstrual dysfunction (MD).
Objective: 1) investigate risk of LEA and DE, 2) compare DE, training volume, and weight dissatisfaction among female collegiate runners at risk vs not at risk for LEA, and 3) compare risk for LEA between NCAA (National Collegiate Athletics Association) Division I, II, and III female collegiate runners.

Chronic illness (CI) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality for Indigenous people. In Montana, Indigenous communities disproportionately experience CI, a legacy of settler colonialism. For over two decades, Messengers for Health, an Apsáalooke (Crow Indian) non-profit, and Montana State University have partnered to improve community health using a community-based participatory research (CBPR) approach.

Species of Oxybelis are extremely elongate arboreal snakes that are broadly distributed in the Americas, from extreme southeastern Arizona (USA) to central South America. Primarily feeding on lizards and birds, Oxybelis venoms are poorly known in general, but a prominent taxon-specific three-finger toxin (fulgimotoxin) was isolated from and is a prominent component of O. fulgidus venom; a homolog is also present in O.

With more than 700 described species, leeches include morphological, physiological, and behavioral diversity and occur in terrestrial and aquatic habitats, including freshwater, estuarine, and marine ecosystems. Leeches inhabit a number of extreme environments, including extremes in temperature, moisture, salinity, pressure, light, and pollution. In some cases, leeches in extreme environments have specialized morphological, physiological, or behavioral adaptations to survive these conditions, yet unique adaptations are not apparent in some species.

Background: To describe the characteristics of participants who registered for multiple annual offerings of a community-based weight loss program called The Challenge, and to determine participant characteristics associated with weight change over multiple offerings of The Challenge occurring during the years 2010-2016.
Methods: Multivariable linear mixed effects analyses were conducted to describe percent weight change within and between offerings of The Challenge by participant characteristics.
Results: There were 669 and 575 participants included in the within and between analyses, respectively, for offerings of The Challenge.

A general procedure for the stereocontrolled synthesis of (E)-stilbene derivatives by palladium-catalyzed Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction of (E)-2-phenylethenylboronic acid pinacol ester with aryl bromides was investigated. (E)-2-Phenylethenylboronic acid pinacol ester was prepared by 9-BBN-catalyzed hydroboration of phenylacetylene with pinacolborane. This reagent undergoes facile palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling with a diverse set of aryl bromides to provide the corresponding (E)-stilbene derivatives in moderate to good yield.

A new leech species , is described from Montezuma Well, an isolated travertine spring mound located in central Arizona, USA. In its native habitat, had been previously identified as (Linnaeus, 1758), which was later reclassified to (Verrill, 1872). Similar to the European and North American , has six pairs of testisacs, five pairs of smooth crop caecae, one lobed pair of posteriorly-directed crop caecae, one pair of eyes, a nuchal scute, and diffuse salivary glands.

We study wave propagation, interaction, and transmission across the boundary between two chemical media in a model of an oscillatory reaction-diffusion medium subjected to local periodic forcing. The forced waves can be either outwardly (OP) or inwardly propagating (IP), depending on the dispersion of the medium. Competition among forced waves, spontaneous spiral waves, and bulk oscillations is studied for both cases.
