The synthesis and characterization of a tris(alkyne) ligand, tris[2-(trimethylsilyl)ethynyl-4--butylbenzyl]amine (), and its silver(I) hexafluorophosphate complex, , are reported. The solid-state structure and luminescence properties of indicate relatively strong silver(I)-alkyne interactions between the metal cation and . No significant changes in the bond angles or lengths were observed upon metalation of with Ag, indicating a relatively unstrained ligand-metal motif.

The missed crossing vessel during open pyeloplasty: a potential advantage of the robot-assisted approach in children.

Objective: To investigate whether the panoramic view offered by robot-assisted laparoscopic pyeloplasty (RALP) reduces the likelihood of missing a crossing vessel compared to open pyeloplasty in cases where initial pyeloplasty fails.

Methods: A single institution redo-pyeloplasty database was reviewed for children treated between January 2012 to July 2023. Clinical history, imaging and operative details were reviewed to identify the etiology for the redo procedure.

We evaluated records from SUDEP cases to examine frequency of inpatient and outpatient SUDEP counseling, and whether counseling practices were influenced by risk factors and biomarkers, such as post-ictal generalized EEG suppression (PGES).

Gaps in the timeliness, coverage, and spatial specificity of official Point-in-Time Counts of unsheltered homelessness suggest a role for geospatial data from alternative sources to provide interim, neighborhood-level estimates of counts and trends.

In 2009, we determined the effects of the enantiomeric composition of the kairomone, α-pinene, on trap catches of arboreal beetles (Coleoptera) in stands of eastern pine trees with resin dominated by (+)-α-pinene. We hypothesized that the responses of beetles would correlate with the predominant enantiomer of α-pinene found in host pines. Lures of (+)-, racemic (±), and (-)-α-pinene were added separately to ethanol-baited multiple-funnel traps.

A convenient method for preparing 3-aryl isoquinolines via a base-promoted tandem reaction is presented. Simply combining commercially available 2-methyl-arylaldehydes, benzonitriles, NaN(SiMe), and CsCO enabled the synthesis of a variety of isoquinolines (23 examples, ≤90% yield). Among the syntheses of isoquinolines, the transition metal-free method described here is straightforward, practical, and operationally simple.

Miracle friends and miracle money in California: a mixed-methods experiment of social support and guaranteed income for people experiencing homelessness.

Background: This paper describes the protocols for a randomized controlled trial using a parallel-group trial design that includes an intervention designed to address social isolation and loneliness among people experiencing homelessness known as Miracle Friends and an intervention that combines Miracles Friends with an economic poverty-reduction intervention known as Miracle Money. Miracle Friends pairs an unhoused person with a volunteer "phone buddy." Miracle Money provides guaranteed basic income of $750 per month for 1 year to Miracle Friends participants.

Associations between service use and behavioral health trajectories among young adults experiencing homelessness.

Purpose: To examine associations of service use (housing, mental health, substance use, education, and employment) with depression and substance use disorder (SUD) trajectories among young adults experiencing homelessness.

Method: Secondary data come from 276 young adults who participated in an intervention to reduce substance use and sexual risk behaviors. Participants were recruited from three drop-in centers in Los Angeles County from 2018 to 2020, and completed surveys at baseline, 3-, 6-, 12-, and 24-months post-baseline.

Improving access to child abuse evaluations through innovation & telemedicine.

Many children and families do not have access to specialized pediatric health care, including child abuse pediatricians. Medical evaluations in cases of suspected child maltreatment including physical abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect are a critical component of the multidisciplinary team response to these concerns.
