Effect of graded exercise rehabilitation based on pulmonary function classification on dyspnea, pulmonary function, and exercise capacity in elderly lung cancer patients.

Objective: To investigate the effects of graded exercise rehabilitation training tailored to pulmonary function classification on dyspnea, pulmonary function, and exercise capacity during postoperative rehabilitation in elderly patients following lung cancer surgery.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on clinical data from 168 elderly patients undergoing postoperative rehabilitation after lung cancer surgery at Panjin Liaohe Oilfield Gem Flower Hospital from January 2021 to December 2022. Patients were divided into two groups based on the rehabilitation received: the control group (n=71), receiving standard rehabilitation, and the study group (n=97), receiving additional graded exercise rehabilitation based on pulmonary function classification.

The role of CD47 in immune escape of colon cancer and its correlation with heterogeneity of tumor immune microenvironment.

Background: Cluster of differentiation 47 (CD47), a transmembrane protein, plays a critical role in regulating cellular functions and maintaining immune homeostasis. Its expression has been shown to influence cancer prognosis. In this study, we investigated the role of CD47 in tumor progression in colon adenocarcinoma (COAD) and evaluated its potential as a target for immunotherapy.

Chaetocin is a fungal mycotoxin that extensively found in various natural products and has anticancer and anti‑inflammatory activities. Herein, the anticancer effects of chaetocin against the progression of neuroblastoma were studied with SHSY-5Y human neuroblastoma cells and examined the underlying molecular mechanisms. The effects of chaetocin on cellular viability, apoptosis, cell migration, and invasion were investigated.

Evaluating psychological distress in Chinese patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma planned for radiotherapy: a cross-sectional study using the distress thermometer.

Objective: We aim to estimate the prevalence of baseline clinically significant distress in Chinese patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) before receiving the first radiotherapy and assess factors predictive of distress.

Methods: One hundred and sixty-eight patients were enrolled to complete a set of questionnaires including Distress Thermometer (DT) and Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS). Of these, 131 questionnaires were available for the final analysis.

The ALTER-L038 study aimed to evaluate efficacy and safety of a chemotherapy-free combination of benmelstobart, an anti-programmed cell death ligand 1 antibody, and anlotinib, a small-molecule multi-target anti-angiogenic TKI, in EGFR-positive advanced NSCLC patients who progressed after EGFR TKI therapy. Patients were enrolled in a phase I/II study.

Osteoporosis (OP), a metabolic disorder predominantly impacting postmenopausal women, has seen considerable progress in diagnosis and treatment over the past few decades. However, the intricate interplay between genetic factors and endocrine disruptors (EDCs) in the pathogenesis of OP remains inadequately elucidated. The objective of this research is to examine the environmental pollutants and their regulatory mechanisms that could potentially influence the pathogenesis of OP, in order to establish a theoretical foundation for the targeted prevention and medical management of individuals with OP.

The dysregulation of kinases has emerged as a major class of targets for anticancer drug discovery given its node roles in the etiology of tumorigenesis, progression, invasion, and metastasis of malignancies, which is validated by the FDA approval of 28 small molecule kinase inhibitor (SMKI) drugs for cancer treatment at the end of 2015. While the preclinical and clinical data of these drugs are widely presented, it is highly essential to give an updated review on the medical indications, design principles and binding modes of these anti-tumor SMKIs approved by the FDA to offer insights for the future development of SMKIs with specific efficacy and safety.

Efficacy and safety of direct oral anticoagulants for preventing venous thromboembolism in hospitalized cancer patients: a national multicenter retrospective cohort study.

Introduction: Studies on the use of direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) for preventing venous thromboembolism (VTE) in hospitalized cancer patients are lacking. Therefore, we conducted a multicenter retrospective cohort study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of DOACs versus low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) for the primary prevention of VTE in hospitalized cancer patients.

Methods: Clinical outcomes included thrombosis, VTE, other thrombosis, all bleeding, major bleeding, nonmajor bleeding, and all-cause death.

Given its significant implications, this study aimed to systematically compare the biological characteristics between advanced NSCLC patients with and without BoM. In this study, the genomic alterations from the tumor tissue DNA of 42 advanced NSCLC patients without BoM and 67 patients with BoM and were analyzed by a next-generation sequencing (NGS) panel.

Data-Driven Design of Triple-Targeted Protein Nanoprobes for Multiplexed Imaging of Cancer Lymphatic Metastasis.

Background: The combination of neoadjuvant chemotherapy and anti-angiogenesis therapy for patients with triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) remains inadequately supported by evidence. We conducted a single-arm, open-label, multicenter, phase II trial to evaluate the efficacy and toxicity of anlotinib plus epirubicin and cyclophosphamide followed by paclitaxel in patients with IIB to IIIA stage TNBC.

Methods: Newly diagnosed patients received epirubicin at 90 mg/m and cyclophosphamide at 600 mg/m followed by docetaxel at 100 mg/m (21 days per cycle; total of 4 cycles), along with oral anlotinib (12 mg qd, d1-14; 21 days per cycle; total of 4 cycles).

Due to its excellent material performance, the AlGaN/GaN high-electron-mobility transistor (HEMT) provides a wide platform for biosensing. The high density and mobility of two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) at the AlGaN/GaN interface induced by the polarization effect and the short distance between the 2DEG channel and the surface can improve the sensitivity of the biosensors. The high thermal and chemical stability can also benefit HEMT-based biosensors' operation under, for example, high temperatures and chemically harsh environments.

The prognostic value of LAYN in HPV-related head and neck squamous cell carcinoma and its influence on immune cell infiltration.

Background: HPV-positive head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) exhibits different characteristics from HPV-negative tumors in terms of tumor development, clinical features, treatment response, and prognosis. Layilin (LAYN), which contains homology with C-type lectins, plays a critical role in tumorigenesis and cancer progression. However, the prognostic value of LAYN and the relationship between LAYN and immune infiltration levels in HPV-related HNSCC patients still require a comprehensive understanding.
