Background: Tacrolimus has been widely used for immunosuppressive therapy in solid organ transplantation (SOT) and allo-geneic stem cell transplantation (allo-SCT) over the past 2 decades. Pancreatitis caused by tacrolimus was rarely reported in kidney transplantation previously.
Case Presentation: Here we presented a case of a 45-year-old male who underwent kidney transplantation and received immunosuppressive therapy of tacrolimus, on day + 67 after transplantation he developed acute pancreatitis with extremely high blood concentration of tacrolimus.

Optic atrophy 1 (OPA1)-related mitochondrial fusion and mitophagy are vital to sustain mitochondrial homeostasis under stress conditions. However, no study has confirmed whether OPA1-related mitochondrial fusion/mitophagy is activated by melatonin and, consequently, attenuates cardiomyocyte death and mitochondrial stress in the setting of cardiac ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury. Our results indicated that OPA1, mitochondrial fusion, and mitophagy were significantly repressed by I/R injury, accompanied by infarction area expansion, heart dysfunction, myocardial inflammation, and cardiomyocyte oxidative stress.

Background: Posttransplantation diabetes mellitus (PTDM) is a frequent metabolic complication following solid organ transplantation and was proven to be associated with adverse outcome. This study aimed to identify the incidence and risk factors of PTDM under the background of relative-living renal transplantation in China.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study that included 358 recipients who underwent relative-living donor kidney transplantation in the Organ Transplant Institute of 309th Hospital of People's Liberation Army between January 1, 2010, and December 31, 2014.

Background: HIV-associated encephalitis (HIVE) is one of the common complications of HIV infection, and the pathogenesis of HIVE remains unclear, while lncRNA might be involved it. In this study, we made re-annotation on the expression profiling from the HIVE study in the public database, identified the lncRNA that might be involved in HIVE, and explored the possible mechanism.
Methods: In the GEO public database, the microarray expression profile (GSE35864) of three regions of brain tissues (white matter, frontal cortex and basal ganglia brain tissues) was chosen, updated annotation was performed to construct the non-cording-RNA (ncRNA) microarray data.

The Prospective Urban Rural Epidemiology (PURE) China Action on Spine and Hip status (CASH) study focused on the prevalence of osteoporosis and spinal fracture in China. The aim of the PURE CASH study is to determine the prevalence of osteoporosis and spinal fracture, and explore the potential relationship between spinal fracture and bone mineral density (BMD). This study is a prospective large-scale population study with a community-based sampling and recruitment strategy.

Nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB), a key nuclear transcription factor, is associated with prognosis in a variety of human cancers. However, the clinical value of NF-κB in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is still controversial. Therefore, the aim of this meta-analysis was to obtain an accurate evaluation of the relationship between NF-κB expression and survival prognosis of NSCLC patients based on published articles.

Osteoarthritis is a type of joint disease that may lead to other joint diseases. Previous research has demonstrated that tumor necrosis factor (TNF)‑α is associated with osteoarthritis activity and pathology. The possible mechanisms of the TNF‑α‑mediated signaling pathway have not been clearly elaborated in synovial fibroblasts.

Pancreatic cancer (PC), characterized by aggressive local invasion and metastasis, is one of the most malignant cancers. Gemcitabine is currently used as the standard drug for the treatment of advanced and metastatic PC, but with limited efficacy. In this study, we demonstrated that gemcitabine increased the expression of heparanase (HPA1), the only known mammalian endoglycosidase capable of cleaving heparan sulfate, both and .

Osteoporosis, a chronic disease with no therapeutic cure, affects a growing number of people as the aging population in China rapidly increases. Therefore, developing an evidence-based model of health education and management for osteoporosis prevention is required. In the present study, an osteoporosis club was established, which is a novel model of health education and management for osteoporosis prevention.

The reprogrammed lipopolysaccharide (LPS) pathway has been reported to render patients more susceptible to the development of post-traumatic multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS). To facilitate thorough understanding of this mechanism, a phosphoproteomic study was utilized to screen the potential signaling molecules. Interestingly, a truncated form of Src homology 2-domain-containing tyrosine phosphatase 1 (shp-1) emerged in human THP-1 macrophages sequentially treated with H2O2 and LPS and not with either of the treatments alone.

Background: Ulcerative colitis (UC) can be viewed as an autoimmune disease. Bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) with its regenerative, cellular multi-lineage and immunomodulatory abilities can influence the repair of damaged tissues in UC. This study investigated the effects of MSCs transplantation on the mice intestinal barrier in response to oxidative stress injury.

Nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) are associated with a number of clinical diseases and only a few antitubercular agents are active against them. Oxazolidinones comprise a novel class of antimicrobials that inhibit bacterial protein synthesis at the ribosome. Linezolid, the first oxazolidinone antibacterial agent approved for clinical use, has excellent activity against some NTM but is ineffective against others.

We investigated the correlation between genetic polymorphisms of cytochrome P450 enzyme genes and the outcome of clopidogrel treatment in 118 coronary disease patients after percutaneous coronary intervention at the Chinese PLA General Hospital. Patients were divided into an ischemia event relapse group (IERG) and a non-IERG group (NIERG) based on relapse of ischemia events within 6 months after percutaneous coronary intervention. Ischemia occurred in 26.

We observed the inhibitive effect of electroacupuncture (EA) at Zusanli on inflammatory mediators of postoperative intra-abdominal adhesions to find out the relationship between EA and the cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway. Sixty-four rats were divided into 8 groups (A-H, each = 8): A = sham control; B = abdominal adhesions model; C = abdominal adhesions plus EA; D = sham acupoint control; E = abdominal adhesions plus vagotomy; F = abdominal adhesions plus EA after vagotomy; G = abdominal adhesions plus α-bungarotoxin (BGT); and H = abdominal adhesions plus EA after α-BGT. α-BGT (1 μg/kg) was injected into the abdominal cavity after surgery, and the bilateral celiac vagotomy was done during the surgery.
