Background: Pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PAAD) is an aggressive solid tumour characterised by few early symptoms, high mortality, and lack of effective treatment. Therefore, it is important to identify new potential therapeutic targets and prognostic biomarkers of PAAD.

Methods: The Cancer Genome Atlas and Genotype-Tissue Expression databases were used to identify the expression and prognostic model of protocadherin 1 (PCDH1).

There are few studies focus on post-neoadjuvant treatment in hormone receptor-positive (HR+)/human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative (HER2-)/lymph node-positive (LN+) breast cancer, a multi-center, open-label, randomized, controlled phase III trial was conducted to evaluate pathological response-guided non-cross-resistant adjuvant chemotherapy in patients with HR+/HER2-/LN+ breast cancer who were non-responsive to primary chemotherapy. Patients received four cycles of non-cross-resistant adjuvant chemotherapy plus endocrine therapy (ET), or ET alone. Forty patients responsive to neoadjuvant chemotherapy and with Miller and Payne G4 or G5 and LN- status were assigned to the observation group.

Circulating tumor cells dynamics during chemotherapy predict survival and response in advanced non-small-cell lung cancer patients.

Ther Adv Med Oncol

April 2023

Guangdong Lung Cancer Institute, Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Translational Medicine in Lung Cancer, Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital (Guangdong Academy of Medical Sciences), Southern Medical University, 106 Zhongshan Er Rd, Guangzhou 510080, China.

Background: Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) are prognostic biomarker in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). CTCs could also be used as predictor of efficacy of systemic treatments in advanced NSCLC.

Objectives: We described the dynamic changes of CTCs during first-line platinum-based chemotherapy in advanced NSCLC and clarified the correlation between CTC counts and efficacy of chemotherapy.

To examine the impact of tumor sidedness on clinical outcomes in Chinese patients with metastatic colorectal cancer treated with folinic acid/fluorouracil/oxaliplatin (FOLFOX-4) ± cetuximab in the TAILOR trial. Clinical data from 391 patients were evaluated for tumor sidedness. Patients with left-sided tumors who received cetuximab plus FOLFOX-4 had a significantly longer overall survival (medians: 22.

Recombination and mutation shape variations in the major histocompatibility complex.

J Genet Genomics

December 2022

Department of Immunology and National Immunoassay Laboratory, Fifth Medical Center of Chinese PLA General Hospital, Beijing 100071, China. Electronic address:

The major histocompatibility complex (MHC) is closely associated with numerous diseases, but its high degree of polymorphism complicates the discovery of disease-associated variants. In principle, recombination and de novo mutations are two critical factors responsible for MHC polymorphisms. However, direct evidence for this hypothesis is lacking.

Cranial radiotherapy is clinically used in the treatment of brain tumours; however, the consequent cognitive and emotional dysfunctions seriously impair the life quality of patients. LW-AFC, an active fraction combination extracted from classical traditional Chinese medicine prescription Liuwei Dihuang decoction, can improve cognitive and emotional dysfunctions in many animal models; however, the protective effect of LW-AFC on cranial irradiation-induced cognitive and emotional dysfunctions has not been reported. Recent studies indicate that impairment of adult hippocampal neurogenesis (AHN) and alterations of the neurogenic microenvironment in the hippocampus constitute critical factors in cognitive and emotional dysfunctions following cranial irradiation.

September 2021

Key Laboratory of Carcinogenesis and Translational Research (Ministry of Education), Peking University Cancer Hospital and Institute, Beijing, People's Republic of China.

Background: Real-world safety and effectiveness data for trastuzumab plus chemotherapy treatment of patients with HER2-positive metastatic gastric cancer (mGC) in China are lacking.

Patients And Methods: EVIDENCE was a prospective, multicenter, noninterventional registry study evaluating the safety and effectiveness of trastuzumab in five cohorts of Chinese patients with gastric cancer, stratified by HER2 status and trastuzumab treatment. Effectiveness was analyzed for cohorts I (HER2-positive, trastuzumab treated), II (HER2-positive, trastuzumab untreated), and IV (HER2-negative, trastuzumab untreated); trastuzumab-related adverse events (AEs) were analyzed for cohort I.

Key Laboratory for Biomechanics and Mechanobiology of Ministry of Education, School of Biological Science and Medical Engineering, Beijing Advanced Innovation Centre for Biomedical Engineering, Beihang University, Xue Yuan Road No. 37, Haidian District, Beijing 100191, People's Republic of China.

Diabetic skin ulcer is one of the severe complications of diabetes mellitus, which has a high incidence and may cause death or disability. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is widely used in the treatment of diabetic wounds due to the effect of growth factors (GFs) derived from it. However, the relatively short half-life of GFs limits their applications in clinics.

p53-dependent elimination of aneuploid mitotic offspring by entosis.

Cell Death Differ

February 2021

Laboratory of Cell Engineering, Institute of Biotechnology, 20 Dongda Street, Beijing, 100071, China.

Entosis was proposed to promote aneuploidy and genome instability by cell-in-cell mediated engulfment in tumor cells. We reported here, in epithelial cells, that entosis coupled with mitotic arrest functions to counteract genome instability by targeting aneuploid mitotic progenies for engulfment and elimination. We found that the formation of cell-in-cell structures associated with prolonged mitosis, which was sufficient to induce entosis.
