Background: Although numerous studies confirmed the marked efficacy of chimeric antigen receptor T cells (CAR-T cells) in many hematologic malignancies, severe cardiovascular toxicities remain to be a major obstacle when incorporating this technology. Furthermore, previous individual investigations regarding the cardiovascular toxicities of CAR-T cell therapy also reported controversial conclusions. Therefore, a meta-analysis was performed to further evaluate the impacts of CAR-T cell therapy on cardiovascular toxicities.

Background: Treatment of coronary bifurcation lesions remains challenging; a simple strategy has been preferred as of late, but the disadvantage is ostium stenosis or even occlusion of the side branch (SB). Only a few single-center studies investigating the combination of a drug-eluting stent in the main branch followed by a drug-eluting balloon in the SB have been reported. This prospective, multicenter, randomized study aimed to investigate the safety and efficacy of a paclitaxel-eluting balloon (PEB) compared with regular balloon angioplasty (BA) in the treatment of non-left main coronary artery bifurcation lesions.

Nucleus pulposus cells (NPCs) play a vital role in maintaining the homeostasis of the intervertebral disc (IVD). Previous studies have discovered that NPCs exhibited malfunction due to cellular senescence during disc aging and degeneration; this might be one of the key factors of IVD degeneration. Thus, we conducted this study in order to investigate the altered biofunction and the underlying genes and pathways of senescent NPCs.

Point-of-care (POC) medical assays provide critical information to guide clinical therapy for a broad range of medical scenarios, such as resource-poor settings and specialty departments in hospitals. Even though many types of POC assays can be done in automated devices, these POC assays typically cannot well accommodate the multiplexed detection of biomarkers where a large dynamic range is needed. Here, we report a POC assay, which is both automated and suitable for detecting multiple biomarkers with dynamic detection ranges.

Nucleus pulposus (NP) mesenchymal stem cells (NPMSCs) are a potential cell source for intervertebral disc (IVD) regeneration; however, little is known about their response to tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), a critical inflammation factor contributing to accelerating IVD degeneration. Accordingly, the aim of this study was to investigate the regulatory effects of TNF-α at high and low concentrations on the biological behaviors of healthy rat NPMSCs, including proliferation, migration, and NP differentiation. In this study, NPMSCs were treated with different concentration of TNF-α (0-200 ng/mL).

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is a leading cause of liver cirrhosis, liver cancer, and liver failure, affecting 350 million people worldwide. Currently available anti-HBV drugs include (PEGylated-) interferon-α and nucleos(t)ide analogs, which can cause significant side effects and drug-resistance in many cases of long-term treatment. The lack of a reliable and robust infection system is a major barrier for understanding the HBV life cycle and discovering novel therapeutic targets.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease characterized by chronic inflammatory synovitis, bone atrophy, and subsequent progressive destruction of articular tissue. Targeted inhibition of receptor activator of NF-kB ligand (RANKL) has been highly successful in preventing RA-mediated bone erosion in animal models and patients, suggesting that development of a RANKL vaccine might be of therapeutic value. Our previous study has shown that the recombinant RANKL vaccine YpNOPhe, generated by replacement of a single tyrosine residue (Tyr) in murine RANKL (mRANKL) with p-nitrophenylalanine (pNOPhe), induces a high titer antibody response and prevents ovariectomy (OVX)-induced bone loss in mice.

The functions of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) appear to decline with age due to cellular senescence, which could reduce the efficacy of MSCs-based therapies. Recently, MSCs have been identified in the nucleus pulposus, which offers great potential for intervertebral disc (IVD) repair. However, this potential might be affected by the senescence of nucleus pulposus MSCs (NPMSCs), but whether or not this exists remains unknown.
