Introduction: Serum albumin's association with liver transplant outcomes has been investigated with mixed findings. This study aimed to evaluate perioperative albumin level, independently and as part of the albumin-bilirubin (ALBI) grade, as a predictor of post-liver transplant hospital and intensive care unit (ICU) length of stay (LOS).
Methods: Adult liver-only transplant recipients at our institution from September 2011 to May 2019 were included in this retrospective study.

Few patients with coronavirus disease 2019-associated severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) require veno-venous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VV-ECMO). Prolonged VV-ECMO support necessitates repeated oxygenator replacement, increasing the risk for complications. Transient hypoxemia, induced by VV-ECMO stop needed for this procedure, may induce transient myocardial ischemia and acutely declining cardiac output in critically ill patients without residual pulmonary function.

Introduction: The DAWN trial demonstrated the effectiveness of late endovascular treatment in acute ischemic stroke patients selected on the basis of a clinical-core mismatch. We explored in a real-world sample of endovascular treatment patients if a clinical-ASPECTS (Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score) mismatch was associated with an outcome benefit after late endovascular treatment.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed all consecutive acute ischemic stroke patients admitted 6-24 h after last proof of good health in two stroke centers, with initial National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) ≥10 and an internal carotid artery or M1 occlusion.

Background: The clinical efficacy of mechanical thrombectomy has been unequivocally demonstrated in multiple randomized clinical trials. However, these studies were performed in carefully selected centers and utilized strict inclusion criteria.
Aim: We aimed to assess the clinical effectiveness of mechanical thrombectomy in a prospective registry.

Background: Depression may contribute to neurocognitive impairment (NCI) in people with HIV (PWH). Attributing NCI to depression rather than to HIV is complicated as depression may be both a causal factor and an effect of NCI. This study aimed to determine the association between depressive symptoms and NCI among PWH with well-controlled infection.
