Background: Androgens are essential hormones for testicular development and the maintenance of male fertility. Environmental factors, stress, aging, and psychological conditions can disrupt androgen production, impacting the androgen signaling pathway and consequently spermatogenesis. Within the testes, testosterone is produced by Leydig cells and acts on Sertoli cells by activating the androgen receptor (AR), which then translocates to the nucleus to function as a transcription factor.

Rationale: Splenic abscess is relatively rare in clinical practice as an invasive disease. However, during the continuous prevalence of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the incidence rate of splenic abscess showed an upward trend. However, because the etiology of splenic abscess is not specific, it is easy to be covered by the respiratory symptoms of COVID-19, resulting in omission or delay in diagnosis.

Immune rejection is the major limitation for porcine xenograft survival in primate recipients. Proinflammatory cytokines play important roles in immune rejection and have been found to mediate the pathological effects in various clinical and experimental transplantation trials. IL-17 and TNF-α play critical pathological roles in immune disorders, such as psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Non-canonical nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) signaling pathway regulates many physiological and pathological processes, including liver homeostasis and diseases. Recent studies demonstrate that non-canonical NF-κB signaling pathway plays an essential role in hyperglycemia, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, alcoholic liver disease, liver regeneration, liver injury, autoimmune liver disease, viral hepatitis, and hepatocellular carcinoma. Small-molecule inhibitors targeting to non-canonical NF-κB signaling pathway have been developed and shown promising results in the treatment of liver injuries.

Background: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is characterized by intensive stromal involvement and heterogeneity. Pancreatic cancer cells interact with the surrounding tumor microenvironment (TME), leading to tumor development, unfavorable prognosis, and therapy resistance. Herein, we aim to clarify a gene network indicative of TME features and find a vulnerability for combating pancreatic cancer.

The balance between gut microbiota and host is critical for maintaining host health. Although dysregulation of the gut microbiota triggers the development of various inflammatory diseases, including colitis, the molecular mechanism of microbiota-driven colitis development is largely unknown. Here, we found that gasdermin D (GSDMD) was activated during acute colitis.

Tumor-associated macrophages are regarded as tumor-enhancers as they have key roles in the subversion of adaptive immunity and in inflammatory circuits that promote tumor progression. Here, we show that cancer cells can subvert macrophages yielding cells that have gained pro-tumor functions. When macrophages isolated from mice or humans are co-cultured with dead cancer cell line cells, induced to undergo apoptosis to mimic chemotherapy, up-regulation of pro-tumor gene expression was identified.

Heart diseases are major causes of mortality. Cardiac hypertrophy, myocardial infarction (MI), viral cardiomyopathy, ischemic and reperfusion (I/R) heart injury finally lead to heart failure and death. Insulin and IGF1 signal pathways play key roles in normal cardiomyocyte growth and physiological cardiac hypertrophy while inflammatory signal pathway is associated with pathological cardiac hypertrophy, MI, viral cardiomyopathy, I/R heart injury, and heart failure.
