This study evaluated physicians' utilization of a universal psychosocial screening protocol within a pediatric primary care setting. Pediatricians (n = 20) adopted a multitiered screening algorithm using the Pediatric Symptom Checklist-17 (PSC-17) within well-child checkups (WCC) for children, ages 7 and 11 years. Descriptive analyses were performed to evaluate the initial 3 years of physician screening protocol implementation to: (1) determine frequency and proportion of use and (2) examine patient outcomes associated with accessing behavioral health care.

The present research examined how actor and partner attachment insecurity relates to biases in perceptions of partners' core relationship-relevant constructs. Across three dyadic studies ( N = 333, N = 666), we examined attachment anxiety and avoidance as predictors of over- or underestimation of partners' relationship satisfaction, commitment, and responsiveness, using partners' own reports as the reference point for evaluating bias. Actors higher in avoidance and actors with partners higher in avoidance perceived their partners to be less satisfied and committed.

We examine the efficacy of an intervention to improve word reading and reading comprehension in fourth- and fifth-grade students with significant reading problems. Using a randomized control trial design, we compare the fourth- and fifth-grade reading outcomes of students with severe reading difficulties who were provided a researcher-developed treatment with reading outcomes of students in a business-as-usual (BAU) comparison condition. A total of 280 fourth- and fifth-grade students were randomly assigned within school in a 1:1 ratio to either the BAU comparison condition ( n = 139) or the treatment condition ( n = 141).

Psychological stressors can contribute to adverse health outcomes and lead to health disparities. To examine associations among psychological stressors, coping, blood pressure, body mass index, and body fat in ethnic minority women, we conducted a secondary analysis using data from 178 African American and Hispanic/Latina women who completed measures of perceived racial discrimination and stress, coping, blood pressure, and body composition. Objective: This study examined cardiovascular safety of concomitant use of long-acting stimulants (LAS) and atypical antipsychotics (AAP) in children and adolescents with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

Method: The study used 2004-2007 IMS LifeLink™ claims data involving 6- to 16-year-old children with ADHD and at least one LAS prescription from July 2004 to December 2006. Time-dependent Cox regression analysis was performed to evaluate the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) events due to concomitant use of LAS and AAP.
