Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Food, Nutrition and Health, School of Public Health, Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, P.R. China.

Article Synopsis
  • Developed a risk prediction model for gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in Chinese women using maternal demographics and clinical factors, finding a 17.2% prevalence rate among the studied population.
  • The model utilized multivariable logistic regression and demonstrated good consistency and predictive ability through various statistical tests, including ROC curve analysis and cross-validation.
  • A user-friendly nomogram was created for clinical practice, providing an effective tool for predicting GDM risk based on common maternal characteristics.

Apoptotic-like phase is an essential step in thrombopoiesis from megakaryocytes. Anthocyanins are natural flavonoid pigments that possess a wide range of biological activities, including protection against cardiovascular diseases and induction of tumour cell apoptosis. We investigated the effects and underlying mechanisms of cyanidin-3-o-β-glucoside (Cy-3-g, the major bioactive compound in anthocyanins) on the apoptosis of human primary megakaryocytes and Meg-01 cell line in vitro We found that Cy-3-g dose-dependently increased the dissipation of the mitochondrial membrane potential, caspase-9 and caspase-3 activity in megakaryocytes from patients with newly diagnosed acute myeloid leukaemia but not in those from healthy volunteers.

Conclusion: Endoscope-assisted partial-superficial parotidectomy is a feasible method for treatment of benign parotid superficial lobe tumors located at the anterior or the inferior of the auricular lobule. The main advantage of this procedure is that the small operative scar resulted in improved cosmetic results.

Objectives: This study evaluated the feasibility of endoscope-assisted partial parotidectomy through two small skin incisions.

Objective: To investigate the feasibility of endoscopy-assisted partial-superficial parotidectomy.

Methods: 38 cases with benign tumors located in the superficial lobe of the parotid gland were randomly assigned to receive conventional (20 cases) or endoscopic (18 cases) partial-superficial parotidectomy. Two short incisions, which were 2 to approximately 2.

Objective: To explore the effects of 2A-1-1 (purified component from Panax notoginsengs saponins) on the aggregation of and Ca2+ influx into human platelets.

Methods: The aggregation of platelets was tested by nephelometry, Fura-2 fluorescent technique was used for detecting cell [Ca2+]i. The effects of 2A-1-1, nifedipine and SK&F96365 on Ca(2+) influx into human platelets induced by ADP or CPA were observed separately.
