In Brief: Elevated expression of miR-122-5p in exosomes in the follicular fluid of patients with endometriosis impairs glucose metabolism in cumulus cells and may further impair oocyte quality.
Abstract: Endometriosis (EMs) affects fertility in women of childbearing age in many ways. The underlying mechanisms, including the decrease in oocyte quality, require further investigation.

This study aimed to investigate the effect of specific small ubiquitin-like modifier (SUMO) proteases 1 (SENP1)-mediated deSUMOylation on the malignant behavior of glioma stem cells (GSCs) under hypoxia conditions and evaluate the clinical value of prevention in glioma patients. Under hypoxic conditions, upregulated hypoxia-inducible factor 1α (HIF1α) expression in GSCs activates Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathways, which provide rich nutritional support for glioblastoma (GBM). SENP1-mediated deSUMOylation stabilizes the expression of HIF1α and β-catenin, leading to the occurrence of GSCs-initiated tumorigenesis.

Background: Implementation of high-risk human papillomavirus (hrHPV) screening has greatly reduced the incidence and mortality of cervical cancer. However, a triage strategy that is effective, noninvasive, and independent from the subjective interpretation of pathologists is urgently required to decrease unnecessary colposcopy referrals in hrHPV-positive women.
Methods: A total of 3251 hrHPV-positive women aged 30-82 years (median = 41 years) from International Peace Maternity and Child Health Hospital were included in the training set (n = 2116) and the validation set (n = 1135) to establish Cervical cancer Methylation (CerMe) detection.

A variety of interstitial cells in tumor microenvironment (TME) based on glioma stem cells(GSC) have the function to promote malignant progression of tumors, but whether these interstitial cells have already undergone malignant transformation and their related molecular characteristics are still poorly understood. Human SU3-RFP glioma stem cells (GSC) stably transfected with red fluorescent protein (RFP) and interstitial cells from enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP) transgenic nude mice were co-cultured in vitro. SU3-RFP cells were also inoculated in different tissues of EGFP-Balb/c nude mice.

Transcribed ultraconserved regions (T-UCRs) classified as long non-coding RNAs (Lnc-RNAs) are transcripts longer than 200-nt RNA with no protein-coding capacity. Previous studies showed that T-UCRs serve as novel oncogenes, or tumor suppressors are involved in tumorigenesis and cancer progressive. Nevertheless, the clinicopathologic significance and regulatory mechanism of T-UCRs in lung cancer (LC) remain largely unknown.

Purpose: Overexpression of the HER2/neu (HER2) is linked to an adverse outcome in ovarian cancer. Short-interfering RNA (siRNA) is a HER2 inhibitor, which in combination with chemotherapy improves survival rate. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of adenovirus mediated HER2-siRNA in combination with cisplatin (Ad-HER2-siRNA+DDP) on treating HER2-positive ovarian cancer xenografts and explore the effectiveness of I-Herceptin immunoSPECT imaging for monitoring the tumor's progression.

Background: The aim of this study was to determine the functional and radiological outcomes of arthroscopic treatment of anterior ankle impingement (AAI) in patients with chronic lateral ankle instability (CAI).
Methods: All patients with CAI between June 2012 and May 2015 were invited to participate in this investigation. All of them accepted open modified Broström repair of lateral ankle ligaments and were divided into two groups: AAI group (with anterior ankle impingement) and pure CAI group (without anterior ankle impingement).

Thyroid cancer is very common, but skull ectopic thyroid cancer has not been reported in 50 years of literatures in foreign countries. There are only four cases of the skull ectopic thyroid cancer reported in more than 30 years of domestic literature including the cases in this report. This paper aims to investigate the clinical characteristics and possible molecular mechanisms of this rare disease.

Background: TR4 nuclear receptor 4 (TR4) plays an important role in macrophages-associated foam cell formation of cardiovascular diseases and infiltrating macrophages are critical for prostate cancer (PCa) progression. However, the linkage of macrophages and TR4 and their impacts on PCa metastasis remains unclear.
Results: Knocking-down TR4 in human PCa cells (C4-2, CWR22Rv1), but not in human macrophages cells (THP-1), led to suppress the macrophages infiltration to PCa cells.

We have shown previously that Gugggulsterone (Gug) inhibits growth of cultured LNCaP and PC-3 human prostate cancer cells by causing apoptosis induction in association with reactive-oxygen species (ROS)-dependent activation of c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK). The present study builds upon the novel observations and now reveals a novel mechanism of Gug-anticancer activity that ATP citrate lyase (ACLY)-regulated Akt inactivation is involved in Gug-mediated inhibition of prostate cancer growth. Oral gavage of Gug significantly retarded the growth of PC-3 xenografts in athymic mice without causing weight loss and any other side effects.

Background: Endovascular treatment of bilateral common iliac artery aneurysms (CIAA) is a promising alternative to open surgical repair. However, endovascular treatment is challenging when the CIAAs have short proximal necks and internal iliac artery needs to be preserved.
Methods/results: We report a case of a 62-year-old man who presented with bilateral CIAA with short proximal necks, with the right-side aneurysm extended into the internal iliac artery.

Kisspeptin and its receptor GPR54 play a major role in trophoblast invasion, and progesterone-induced blocking factor (PIBF) is needed for maintaining pregnancy. The expression of kisspeptin/GPR54 and PIBF/progesterone receptor (PR) in trophoblasts and deciduas and the relationship between kisspeptin and PIBF were investigated in the same women with recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA). Trophoblastic and decidual tissues were collected from 32 RSA women who miscarried a genetically normal fetus, and 35 women who had voluntary abortion.
