Intractable vomiting as a presentation of adrenal insufficiency - a case report.

An array of pathophysiological processes can lead to chronic nausea and vomiting, including gastrointestinal and non-gastrointestinal disorders. Initial symptoms of adrenal insufficiency are usually non-specific, but intractable nausea and vomiting are infrequently associated, posing a diagnostic dilemma for clinicians. Here we present such a patient, who responded to glucocorticoid replacement with complete improvement.

Differentiating flare and infection in febrile lupus patients: Derivation and validation of a calculator for resource constrained settings.

: Patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematous (SLE) are at an increased risk of infection and it is often difficult to differentiate between infection and disease activity in a febrile patient with SLE. : Patients with SLE (SLICC criteria) presenting with fever between December 2018 and August 2021 were included. Neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR), NEUT-x, -y, -z indices, Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), C-reactive protein(CRP), C3, C4, anti-dsDNA antibodies, and procalcitonin(PCT) were tested in addition to investigations as per the treating physician's discretion.

Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome in juvenile lupus- a case series and literature review.

Introduction: PRES, as a complication of juvenile lupus, is rarely reported in the literature. In this study, six juvenile lupus patients admitted with diagnosis of PRES were assessed on the basis of clinical characteristics, imaging findings, disease activity status, treatment response and prognosis.

Methodology: Six juvenile (≤ 16 years) lupus patients with a diagnosis of PRES were included.
