Background: As Korean neonatal nurses frequently experience the deaths of infants, moral distress occurs when they provide end-of-life care to the infants and their families. Although they need to care for the patients' deaths and consequently experience burnout and turnover due to moral distress from the situation, there is a lack of a support for nurses. Moreover, not much information is available on the moral distress of neonatal nurses.

Objective: Propranolol is used to treat several cardiovascular diseases; however, toxic doses of propranolol cause severe myocardial depression and cardiac arrest. The aim of this study was to examine the effects of lipid emulsion (LE) on cardiotoxicity induced by toxic doses of propranolol in H9C2 rat cardiomyoblast cell line and to elucidate the underlying mechanism.
Methods: The experimental groups comprised control, propranolol alone, esmolol alone, or LE followed by propranolol or esmolol treatment, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) inhibitor N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC) followed by propranolol treatment.

The aim of this study was to examine the effects of lipid emulsions on carnitine palmitoyltransferase I (CPT-I), carnitine acylcarnitine translocase (CACT), carnitine palmitoyltransferase II (CPT-II), and the mitochondrial dysfunctions induced by toxic doses of local anesthetics in H9c2 rat cardiomyoblasts. The effects of local anesthetics and lipid emulsions on the activities of CPT-I, CACT, and CPT-II, and concentrations of local anesthetics were examined. The effects of lipid emulsions, N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC), and mitotempo on the bupivacaine-induced changes in cell viability, reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels, mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP), and intracellular calcium levels were examined.

The aim of this study was to perform a clinicopathologic analysis of PHLPP1 expression in gastric cancer patients and analyze AKT activity with chemotherapy drug treatment in cancer subtypes. Surgically resected gastric cancer tissue specimens were obtained from 309 patients who underwent gastrectomy, and PHLPP1 expression was validated by tissue microarray analysis with immunohistochemistry. We assessed whether PHLPP1 selectively dephosphorylates Ser473 of AKT in an in-vitro study.

Introduction: There have been few studies about gene differences between patients with diffuse-type gastric cancer and those with intestinal-type gastric cancer. The aim of this study was to compare the transcriptomes of signet ring cell gastric cancer (worst prognosis in diffuse-type) and well-differentiated gastric cancer (best prognosis in intestinal-type); NUDC was identified, and its prognostic role was studied.
Materials And Methods: We performed next-generation sequencing with 5 well-differentiated gastric cancers and 3 of signet ring cell gastric cancer surgical samples.

Amlodipine-induced toxicity has detrimental effects on cardiac cells. The aim of this study was to examine the effect of lipid emulsion on decreased H9c2 rat cardiomyoblast viability induced by amlodipine toxicity. The effects of amlodipine, lipid emulsion, LY 294002, and glibenclamide, either alone or in combination, on cell viability and count, apoptosis, and expression of cleaved caspase-3 and -8, and Bax were examined.

The purpose of this study was to develop a scale to measure high-risk neonatal infection control competency among nurses in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs). The study participants included 251 nurses working in NICUs at seven hospitals in South Korea. The scale was designed to measure high-risk neonatal infection control competency in terms of performance (HirNICCS_P) and knowledge (HirNICCS_K), which were addressed by 42 and 54 items, respectively, and was initially subjected to content validity testing by a panel of experts in neonatal nursing.
