Biphasic calcium phosphate (BCP) scaffold has been widely applied to bone regeneration because of its good biocompatibility and bone conduction property. However, the low mechanical strength and the lack of angiogenic and osteogenic induction properties have restricted its application in bone tissue regeneration. In this study, we combined zinc (Zn) doping and silk fibroin (SF) coating with expectation to enhance compressive strength, osteogenesis and angiogenesis of BCP scaffolds.

The accuracy and precision of laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) quantitative analysis are significantly limited by the spectral noise. Normalization and ensemble averaging of multiple spectra were often used to preprocess spectra. However, these methods cannot completely remove the spectral noise.

Background: Effective means for early diagnosis are imperative to reduce death rate of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients. We aimed to find out high-performance serologic markers to distinguish early-stage NSCLC patients from benign pulmonary nodule patients and healthy controls (HC). Cystatin-SN (CST1) is an active cysteine protease inhibitor of the CST superfamily, involving in the processes of inflammation and tumorigenesis.

Detection of bioactive metabolites produced by bacteria is important for identifying biomarkers for infectious diseases. In this study, a surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS)-based technique was developed for the detection of bioactive metabolite indole produced by () in biological media. The use of highly sensitive Au@Ag core-shell nanoparticles resulted in the detection of indole concentration as low as 0.

Poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) hydrogels are considered promising artificial articular cartilage. However, the weak attachment between PVA hydrogels and subchondral bone limit its application in the biomedical field. In this article, we present a new method to improve the mineralization of PVA hydrogels, and fabricate PVA hydrogels with continuously graded hydroxyapatite coating.

Raman spectroscopy has been proven to be useful for the component content measurement of polymer blends. However, the soft modeling methods commonly used in quantitative analysis of Raman spectroscopy require a large number of training samples, resulting in a waste of materials and time. This work adopted a modified indirect hard modeling (IHM) method to measure the component content of polymer blends based on Raman spectroscopy.

True wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds have become popular and widespread in recent years, and numerous automated pure-tone audiometer applications have been developed for portable devices. However, most of these applications require specifically designed earphones to which the public may not have access. Therefore, the present study investigates the accuracy of automated pure-tone audiometry based on TWS earbuds (Honor FlyPods).
