Identifying factors associated with alcohol use changes during pregnancy is important for developing interventions for people with HIV (PWH). Pregnant PWH (n = 202) initiating antiretroviral therapy in Uganda and South Africa completed two assessments, 6 months apart (T1, T2). Categories were derived based on AUDIT-C scores: "no use" (AUDIT-C = 0 at T1 and T2), "new use" (AUDIT-C = 0 at T1, >0 at T2), "quit" (AUDIT-C > 0 at T1, =0 at T2), and "continued use" (AUDIT-C > 0, T1 and T2).

Introduction: Mechanical thrombectomy (MT) is the standard of care in eligible patients presenting with acute ischemic stroke (AIS). The question of whether intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) improves outcomes in conjunction with MT remains unanswered. We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of published randomized controlled trials (RCT) to explore outcomes of MT with and without IVT.

Background: There is limited evidence on the optimal endovascular strategy for treatment of distal medium-vessel occlusions (DMVO). The low-profile Tigertriever 13 stent-triever shows early promise as an adaptable device that can navigate the distal vasculature without increasing complication risk in DMVO.

Methods: Using Nested Knowledge, we screened literature for RCTs and cohort studies on the endovascular treatment of DMVO.

Sensory neuron hyperexcitability is a critical driver of pathological pain and can result from axon damage, inflammation, or neuronal stress. G-protein coupled receptor signaling can induce pain amplification by modulating the activation of Trp-family ionotropic receptors and voltage-gated ion channels. Here, we sought to use calcium imaging to identify novel inhibitors of the intracellular pathways that mediate sensory neuron sensitization and lead to hyperexcitability.

We examined the association between the severity of acute concussion symptoms and time to return to school and to sports in adolescent student athletes. We hypothesized that there would be an association between the severity of acute symptoms experienced in the first 72 hours and functional recovery such that adolescents with the lowest burden of acute symptoms would have the fastest return to school and sports and those with the highest burden of symptoms would have the slowest return to school and sports. This injury surveillance cohort included 375 adolescent student athletes aged 14-19 years who sustained a sport-related concussion between 2014 and 2020.

Background/purpose: APS ACTION Registry was created to study the outcomes of patients with persistently positive antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL) with or without other systemic autoimmune disease (SAIDx). Given that immunosuppression (IS) is used for certain aPL manifestations, for example, thrombocytopenia (TP), our primary objective was to describe the indications for IS in aPL-positive patients without other SAIDx. Secondly, we report the type of IS used in patients with selected microvascular or non-thrombotic aPL manifestations.

Background: Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) and eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) are immune-mediated inflammatory conditions that share common histopathologic features. Once considered two separate pathologies, preliminary data has suggested that a higher prevalence of EoE may exist in patients with CRS.

Objectives: We aimed to expand the base of evidence across geographic regions and investigate the association between EoE and CRS, including CRS with nasal polyposis (CRSwNP).
