Chemotherapy for non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) still leads to unsatisfactory clinical prognosis because of poor active targeting and tumor metastasis. The objective of this study was to construct a kind of PFV peptide modified targeted daunorubicin and dioscin codelivery liposomes, which could enhance tumor targeting and inhibit tumor cell metastasis. Targeted daunorubicin and dioscin codelivery liposomes were prepared by film dispersion and the ammonium sulfate gradient method.

Mason type III radial head fractures are a source of concern due to the severe injury and poor recovery. At present, radial head resection, open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF), and prosthetic replacement are three common treatment methods for these fractures. The clinical efficacy and postoperative complications are controversial, which makes it difficult for physicians to determine the most appropriate regimen.

Objects The aim of this trial was to evaluate the effect of short-term high-dose atorvastatin therapy on levels of high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), malonaldehyde (MDA), endothelin-1(ET-1), matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), and left ventricular (LV) remodeling in patients with first time attack of acute anterior myocardial infarction (AAMI) .Methods A hundred and three patients with first time attack of AAMI who underwent successful primary percutaneous coronary intervention were randomized to receive atorvastatin 40 mg once daily for 1 week followed by 20 mg once daily (intensive treatment group, IT group, n=49), or atorvastatin 20 mg once daily (standard treatment group, ST group, n=54). Plasma levels of hs-CRP, MDA, ET-1, MMP-2 and MMP-9 were measured on admission, at 1 week, 2 weeks and 6 months follow up and compared between the IT group and ST group.

The optimization of process parameters of spray-dried powder containing fanhuncaoin, a newly discovered anti-inflammatorily active phenolic acid isolated from Chinese herb, was conducted using response surface methodology (RSM). The experimental results were fitted into partial cubic polynomial model to describe and predict the response quality in terms of the final angle of repose, aerodynamic diameter, respirable fraction (RF), and yield. The recommended optimum spray-drying parameters for the development of fanhuncaoin powder with optimum quality were 110 °C inlet temperature, 0.

Chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) is characterized by the t(9;22) (q34;q11)-associated fusion gene, which is an essential element of clinical diagnosis. As a traditional Chinese medicine, realgar has been widely used for the treatment of various diseases for >1,500 years. Inspired by nano-drug, realgar nanoparticles (NPs) have been prepared with an average particle size of <100 nm in a previous work.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the expressions and clinical significance of bone Gla-protein (BGP), bone alkaline phosphatase (B-ALP) and C-terminal telopeptide of type I collagen (CTX) in patients with osteoporosis (OP), and to provide evidence for developing individualized treatment plans.

Methods: Seventy-two OP patients in our hospital were selected as an OP group, and another 72 healthy subjects were used as a control group. Their BGP, B-ALP and CTX levels as well as bone mineral density (BMD) values were measured.

Realgar is a poorly water-soluble compound that exhibits poor bioavailability. To improve this, the authors reduced the particle size of realgar to nanoscale by high-energy ball milling and optimized the preparation process under which (realgar weight 40 g, milling time 9 hours, milling speed 38 Hz, milling temperature -20°C) realgar nanoparticles (NPs) with an average size of 78 ± 8.3 nm were prepared.

Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Hematology, Dalian 210th Hospital of People's Liberation Army, Dalian, Liaoning Province 116021, China.

Objective: To study the effects of psoralen (PSO) with long wave ultraviolet light (PUVA) on apoptosis and mitochondrial membrane potential in K562 cells.

Methods: K562 cells were incubated with PSO in different concentrations (10, 20, 40 and 80 microg/ml for 24 hours) and irradiated without or with UVA (5 min). The changes in ultrastructure of the cells were observed under a transmission electron microscope.

[Effects of psoralen plus long-wave ultraviolet-A on apoptosis of HL-60 leukemia cells].

Zhong Xi Yi Jie He Xue Bao

August 2008

Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Hematology, Dalian 210th Hospital of People's Liberation Army, Dalian, Liaoning Province 116021, China.

Objective: To explore the effects of psoralen (PSO) plus long-wave ultraviolet-A (PUVA) on apoptosis and expression of Fas ligand (FasL) in HL-60 leukemia cells.

Methods: The HL-60 cells were taken as the study objects and their apoptosis rates, ultrastructure changes and the expression of FasL were detected in order to observe the effects of PSO and ultraviolet-A (UVA) of wave length 360 nm. The factorial design and analysis of variance were used to analyze the interaction among the factors.
