The objective of this study was to estimate the prevalence of chronic hepatitis B infection in foreign-born Asians and Pacific Islanders at Kalihi-Palama Health Center in Honolulu, Hawai'i, and to assess the association between both chronic and resolved hepatitis B infection and risk factors such as household exposure to hepatitis B virus and geographic location of birthplace. The study involved cross-sectional data from 997 participants who accessed medical services at Kalihi-Palama Health Center between September 2015 and July 2020. Background/aims: Primary simultaneous bilateral total joint arthroplasty (simBTJA) can cause postoperative anemia. Clinicians might hesitate to discharge patients who have large changes in hemoglobin [Hgb], despite Hgb levels remaining above transfusion thresholds. This study was conducted to evaluate if delta Hgb or perioperative blood loss correspond with readmission in primary simBTJA patients not transfused perioperatively.

Quantitative assessment of the drivers behind the variation of six criteria pollutants, namely fine particulate matter (PM), ozone (O), nitrogen dioxide (NO), sulfur dioxide (SO), particulate matter (PM), and carbon monoxide (CO), in the warming climate will be critical for subsequent decision-making. Here, a novel hybrid model of multi-task oriented CNN-BiLSTM-Attention was proposed and performed in Taiyuan during 2015-2020 to synchronously and quickly quantify the impact of anthropogenic and meteorological factors on the six criteria pollutants variations. Empirical results revealed the residential and transportation sectors distinctly decreased SO by 25 % and 22 % and CO by 12 % and 10 %.

: Adolescence is characterized by psychosocial and cognitive changes that can alter the perceived risk of negative effects of alcohol, opportunities to drink, and self-control. Few studies have investigated whether these factors change in their contribution to adolescent drinking over time. This study examined associations between perceived risk, opportunities to drink, self-control, and past-year drinking and investigated whether self-control buffers the effect of lower perceived risk and frequent drinking opportunities on the probability of past-year drinking.

Background: The optimal hemoglobin (Hb) threshold for red blood cell transfusions in adult patients with myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) has not been defined.
Study Design And Methods: We conducted a pilot randomized multi-center study of two transfusion algorithms (liberal, to maintain Hb 110-120 g/L, transfuse 2 units if Hb < 105 g/L and 1 unit if Hb 105-110 g/L vs. restrictive, 85-105 g/L, transfuse 2 units when Hgb < 85 g/L).

Background: Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) is a procedure used to alleviate patients with chronic liver cirrhosis and portal hypertension. Racial disparities were present in TIPS where numerous studies suggested African American patients experience higher in-hospital mortality rates. However, the incidence of post-TIPS surgical complications, such as HE, has yet to be examined among African Americans.

This study examined the impact of mercury (Hg) vapor exposure from amalgams among all American pregnant women. Amalgam-Hg vapor exposure among 1,665,890 weighted-pregnant women ( = 37) was examined in the 2015-2020 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). Correlation coefficients between amalgam surfaces and daily micrograms (µg) of urinary Hg excretion and daily µg of Hg vapor exposure from amalgams per kilogram (Kg) bodyweight were calculated.

Intensive anthropogenic activities have led to drastic changes in land use/land cover (LULC) and impacted the carbon storage in high-groundwater coal basins. In this paper, we conduct a case study on the Yanzhou Coalfield in Shandong Province of China. We further classify waterbodies by using the Google Earth Engine (GEE) to better investigate the process of LULC transformation and the forces driving it in four periods from 1985 to 2020 (i.

Domestic aviation is a swiftly expanding contributor to global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Presently, economic volatility and the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) crisis have resulted in the decline of domestic aviation, but domestic aviation is rapidly recovering in many countries. However, from a GHG emissions viewpoint, the domestic aviation sector is largely unenforced even though the International Civil Aviation Organization's (ICAO) Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) provision for international aviation is currently in place.
