Background: Student-run free clinics are present at many medical schools throughout the United States. While many work with adult homeless or uninsured populations, few work with pediatric populations. Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are uncommon tumors typically found in the stomach, with an even rarer appearance in the jejunum. These tumors are often discovered incidentally, given their nonspecific presentation. We present a case of chronic iron deficiency anemia in a patient with symptomatic GIST involving the proximal jejunum requiring robot-assisted resection with primary anastomosis.

Introduction: Acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections (ABSSI) are frequently encountered in the emergency department and compromise more than 700,000 hospital admissions annually. Dalbavancin is a single dose long acting semi-synthetic lipogylcopepitde antibiotic with coverage against gram-positive organisms including methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus. Recent data from large tertiary care centers have shown a decrease in hospital admissions and repeat emergency department visits for ABSSI's but little data is available for those who practice in a rural community setting.

Background: Clinicians express concern that they may be unaware of important information contained in voluminous scanned and other outside documents contained in electronic health records (EHRs). An example is "unrecognized EHR risk factor information," defined as risk factors for heritable cancer that exist within a patient's EHR but are not known by current treating providers. In a related study using manual EHR chart review, we found that half of the women whose EHR contained risk factor information meet criteria for further genetic risk evaluation for heritable forms of breast and ovarian cancer.
