Telemedical care concepts provide opportunities to improve the care of patients with chronic heart failure (CHF). The current state of telemedical technologies enables the effective monitoring of the disease. Germany is one of the first European countries with an entitlement to telemedical supporting care for CHF patients.

[Robotic-assisted harvesting of a latissimus dorsi muscle flap: a case report].

Having established itself in various other areas of surgery as well as in urology, robotics is increasingly gaining importance in plastic surgery. The case presented in this manuscript describes the first published robotic-assisted harvesting of a latissimus dorsi muscle free flap in the German-speaking world. The aim is to increase the knowledge of robotics in plastic surgery and to support the introduction of robotic-assisted plastic surgery in Germany.

Arginine or Hypertonic Saline-Stimulated Copeptin to Diagnose AVP Deficiency.

Background: Distinguishing between arginine vasopressin (AVP) deficiency and primary polydipsia is challenging. Hypertonic saline-stimulated copeptin has been used to diagnose AVP deficiency with high accuracy but requires close sodium monitoring. Arginine-stimulated copeptin has shown similar diagnostic accuracy but with a simpler test protocol.

Effectiveness, safety and utilization of cobimetinib and vemurafenib in patients with BRAF V600 mutant melanoma with and without cerebral metastasis under real-world conditions in Germany: the non-interventional study coveNIS.

Cobimetinib/vemurafenib combination therapy is approved for treatment of adults with unresectable or metastatic BRAF V600 mutated malignant melanoma (mM). The non-interventional post-authorisation safety study coveNIS collected real-world data on cobimetinib/vemurafenib treatment focussing on overall survival (OS), safety and utilization. MM patients with brain metastases are usually excluded from clinical studies.

Patients with migration history often encounter barriers to accessing healthcare in Germany, which lowers the quality of care available to them and can affect their overall health. These barriers in access to healthcare are due to both adverse health policies and a lack of migration-related - and diversity-sensitive - content in medical and other health profession teaching. Although most healthcare professionals regularly care for patients with individual or generational migration experience in Germany, teaching content relevant to the healthcare of these patients has not yet been anchored in the curriculum.

This second position paper of the Section Metabolism and Nutrition of the German Interdisciplinary Association for Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine (DIVI) provides recommendations on the laboratory monitoring of macro- and micronutrient intake as well as the use of indirect calorimetry in the context of medical nutrition therapy of critically ill adult patients. In addition, recommendations are given for disease-related or individual (level determination) substitution and (high-dose) pharmacotherapy of vitamins and trace elements.

A multicenter randomized-controlled trial of nucleos(t)ide analogue cessation in HBeAg-negative chronic hepatitis B.

Background & Aims: Nucleos(t)ide analogues (NUCs) are the standard and mostly lifelong treatment for chronic HBeAg-negative hepatitis B, as functional cure (loss of HBsAg) is rarely achieved. Discontinuation of NUC treatment may lead to functional cure; however, to date, the evidence for this has been based on small or non-randomized clinical trials. The STOP-NUC trial was designed with the aim of increasing the HBsAg loss rate using a NUC treatment interruption approach.

This completely revised interdisciplinary S2k-guideline on the diagnosis, therapy, and follow-up care of female patients with urinary incontinence (AWMF registry number: 015-091) was published in December 2021. This guideline combines and summarizes earlier guidelines such as "Female stress urinary incontinence," "Female urge incontinence" and "Use of Ultrasonography in Urogynecological Diagnostics" for the first time. [SARS-CoV-2-Infection and Interstitial Lung Disease: Position paper of the German Respiratory Society].

The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic had a tremendous impact on diagnosis and treatment of interstitial lung diseases (ILD). Especially in the early phase of the pandemic, when the delta variant was prevailling, a huge number of viral pneumonias were observed, which worsened pre-existing, triggered de novo occurence or discovery of previously subclincal interstitial lung diseases. The effect of SARS-CoV-2 infection - without or with accompanying viral pneumonia - on the further development of pre-existing ILD as well of new pulmonary inflitrates and consolidiations is difficult to predict and poses a daily challenge to interdisciplinary ILD boards.

SARS-CoV-2 in Pregnancy, Birth and Puerperium. Guideline of the DGGG and DGPM (S2k-Level, AWMF Registry Number 015/092, March 2022).

This S2k guideline of the German Society for Gynecology and Obstetrics (DGGG) and the German Society of Perinatal Medicine (DGPM) contains consensus-based recommendations for the care and treatment of pregnant women, parturient women, women who have recently given birth, and breastfeeding women with SARS-CoV-2 infection and their newborn infants. The aim of the guideline is to provide recommendations for action in the time of the COVID-19 pandemic for professionals caring for the above-listed groups of people. The PICO format was used to develop specific questions.

Osteosarcomas in older adults: A report from the Cooperative Osteosarcoma Study Group.

Introduction: Osteosarcoma is typically a disease of the young, but may affect any age. Little is known about the disease in older patients beyond retirement age. We aim to describe the characteristics, treatment, and outcomes of older adult patients registered with our cooperative group.

[What have we learned from the German COPD cohort COSYCONET and where do we go from here?].

COSYCONET 1 is the only German COPD cohort which is large enough to be internationally comparable. The recruitment, which started in 2010 and ended in December 2013, comprised 2741 patients with the diagnosis of COPD who were subsequently investigated in regular follow-up visits. All visits included a comprehensive functional and clinical characterisation.

Sarcoma of the Uterus. Guideline of the DGGG, OEGGG and SGGG (S2k-Level, AWMF Registry No. 015/074, April 2021).

This is an official guideline, published and coordinated by the Germany Society for Gynecology and Obstetrics (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Gynäkologie und Geburtshilfe, DGGG). Because of their rarity and heterogeneous histopathology, uterine sarcomas are challenging in terms of their clinical management and therefore require a multidisciplinary approach. To our knowledge, there are currently no binding evidence-based recommendations for the appropriate management of this heterogeneous group of tumors.

German guideline diverticular disease/diverticulitis: Part II: Conservative, interventional and surgical management.

Diverticulosis and diverticular disease are ranked among the most common gastroenterological diseases and conditions. While for many years diverticulitis was found to be mainly an event occurring in the elder population, more recent work in epidemiology demonstrates increasing frequency in younger subjects. In addition, there is a noticeable trend towards more complicated disease.

Trabectedin for Patients with Advanced Soft Tissue Sarcoma: A Non-Interventional, Prospective, Multicenter, Phase IV Trial.

This non-interventional, prospective phase IV trial evaluated trabectedin in patients with soft tissue sarcoma (STS) in real-life clinical practice across Germany. The primary endpoints were progression-free survival (PFS) rates at 3 and 6 months, as defined by investigators. Overall, 128 patients from 19 German sites were evaluated for efficacy and 130 for safety.

Variation across operating sites in urinary and sexual outcomes after radical prostatectomy in localized and locally advanced prostate cancer.

Purpose: The extent of variation in urinary and sexual functional outcomes after radical prostatectomy (RPE) between prostate cancer (PC) operating sites remains unknown. Therefore, this analysis aims to compare casemix-adjusted functional outcomes (EPIC-26 scores incontinence, irritative/obstructive function and sexual function) between operating sites 12 months after RPE.

Intracranial haemorrhage in adult patients on venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.

Aims: Intracranial haemorrhage (ICH) is one of the most serious complications of adult patients treated with venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO) and is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. However, the prevalence and risk factors of ICH in this cohort are still insufficiently understood. We hypothesized that a considerable proportion of patients undergoing VA-ECMO support suffer from ICH and that specific risk factors are associated with the occurrence of ICH.
