Hydrogen production from biomass pyrolysis is attractive since it allows for green hydrogen production through feedstock and thermal conversion. However, the key limiting factors for hydrogen production are the high oxygen content, uneven heating of biomass pellets during the slow heating process, and insufficient depolymerization due to low reaction temperatures (low gas yields and low hydrogen content). To address these challenges, fast pyrolysis of super Arundo in NaOH-NaCO molten salt was carried out in this paper at 450 °C, 550 °C and 650 °C.

Aims: Dedicator of Cytokinesis 2 (DOCK2), a member of the DOCK family of Guanine nucleotide exchange factors that specifically act on the Rho GTPases including Rac and Cdc42, plays pivotal roles in the regulation of leukocyte homeostasis. However, its functions in platelets remain unknown.
Methods And Results: Using mice with genetic deficiency of DOCK2 (Dock2-/-), we showed that Dock2-/-mice exhibited a macrothrombocytopenic phenotype characterized as decreased platelet count and enlarged platelet size by transmission electron microscopy.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the activity of extraocular muscles (EOMs) in patients with thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy (TAO) using turbo spin echo imaging. By analyzing tissue heterogeneity, apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) histogram analysis offers enhanced insights into edema within the EOMs.
Methods: Eighty-eight patients with TAO were retrospectively evaluated and allocated into active (n = 24, clinical activity score [CAS] ≥ 3) and inactive (n = 64, CAS < 3) groups.

Grain size and weight of main-crop are larger than those of ratoon rice, indicating that increasing grain size and weight of ratoon rice is an effective way to increase rice yield. Thus, grain length (GL), grain width (GW), and thousand-grain weight (TGW) of main-crop and ratoon rice in 159 indica rice accessions were used to associate with 2 017 495 SNP markers to detect quantitative trait nucleotides (QTNs) and their interactions with meteorological factors (QMIs), such as temperature and sunlight hours. Around 59 QMIs identified for temperature and 80 QMIs identified for sunlight hours, first, candidate gene LOC_Os02g40840 for GW and LOC_Os04g45480 for TGW were found to interact with temperature, while LOC_Os01g19970 for GL, LOC_Os02g39360 and LOC_Os07g05720 for GW, and LOC_Os07g49460 for TGW were found to interact with sunlight hours.

In ordered magnets, the elementary excitations are spin waves (magnons), which obey Bose-Einstein statistics. Similarly to Cooper pairs in superconductors, magnons can be paired into bound states under attractive interactions. The Zeeman coupling to a magnetic field is able to tune the particle density through a quantum critical point, beyond which a 'hidden order' is predicted to exist.

The hepatoprotective effect of the fruit of Lycium barbarum has been documented in China over millennia. Lycium barbarum polysaccharides (LBPs) were the first macromolecules reported to mitigate liver fibrosis in carbon tetrachloride (CCl)-treated mice. Herein, a neutral peptidoglycan, named as LBPW, was extracted from the fruit of Lycium barbarum.

Endoscopic hematoma evacuation has become well received for its high evacuation rate in patients with intracerebral hematoma. Effective hemostatic procedure is the key to the success of the procedure. Any single method cannot solve all kinds of intraoperative bleeding, The key to hemostasis is to identify the type of bleeding and take the best hemostasis method during endoscopic surgery.

Recently, RIT1 has been implicated in a range of neurological disorders; however, its precise function in glioma pathogenesis is not yet well-defined. This study employed quantitative reverse transcription PCR (qRT-PCR), Western blotting (WB), immunohistochemistry (IHC) and additional methodologies to assess RIT1 expression levels in glioma tissues. Furthermore, the study investigated its influence on glioma progression through a series of functional experiments.

Previously undescribed triterpenoid saponins (1-8), along with eight previously reported analogues (9-16), were isolated from an EtOAc extract obtained from the roots of Rubus setchuenensis. Structures were established based on HRESIMS, 1D and 2D NMR, as well as by literature comparisons. All compounds were isolated for the first time from the genus Rubus.

Multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacterial infections pose a severe threat to global public health and present significant challenges in the treatment of bacterial keratitis. The escalation of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) underscores the urgent need for alternative therapeutic strategies. In this study, we report the homogeneous synthesis of quaternized ultra-highly deacetylated chitosan (QUDCS) using a sequential acid-base combination approach.

Background And Objective: As the most common cancer to progress to brain metastases (BMs), lung cancer presents with intracranial involvement in approximately 20% of patients at the time of diagnosis and lung cancer BMs constitute approximately half of all BMs. The current clinical strategy for managing lung cancer BMs involves a combination of systemic anticancer therapies with local radiation or surgical interventions. The efficacy of systemic treatments is often constrained by the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and the poor inhibition effect of the drug itself.

High-voltage lithium-metal batteries (HVLMBs) are appealing candidates for next-generation high-energy rechargeable batteries, but their practical applications are still limited by the severe capacity degradation, attributed to the poor interfacial stability and compatibility between the electrode and the electrolyte. In this work, a 2D conjugated phthalocyanine framework (CPF) containing single atoms (SAs) of cobalt (CoSAs-CPF) is developed as a novel artificial solid-electrolyte interphase (SEI) in which a large amount of charge is transferred to the CPF skeleton due to the Lewis acid activity of the Co metal sites and the strong electron-absorbing property of the cyano group (-CN), greatly enhancing the adsorption of the Li and regulating the Li distribution toward dendrite-free LMBs, which are superior to most of the reported SEI membranes. As a result, the Li||Li symmetrical cell with CoSAs-CPF-modified Li anodes (CoSAs-CPF@Li) exhibits a low polarization with an area capacity of 1.

Edge contact is essential for achieving the ultimate device pitch scaling of stacked nanosheet transistors with monolayer 2-dimensional (2D) channels. However, due to large edge-contact resistance between 2D channels and contact metal, there is currently a lack of high-performance edge-contact device technology for 2D material channels. Here, we report high-performance edge-contact monolayer molybdenum disulfide (MoS) field-effect transistors (FETs) utilizing well-controlled plasma etching techniques.

Heterojunctions are sustainable solutions for the photocatalytic CO reduction reaction (CORR) by regulating charge separation behavior at the interface. However, their efficiency and product selectivity are severely hindered by the inflexible and weak built-in electric field and the electronic structure of the two phases. Herein, ferroelectric-based heterojunctions between polarized bismuth ferrite (BFO(P)) and CdS are constructed to enhance the interfacial interactions and catalytic activity.
