Purpose: The objective of this study was to determine the negative predictive value (NPV) of positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) for the clinically N0 neck on the basis of neck dissection.

Methods: Participants with newly diagnosed, first-time, head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) and at least one clinically N0 neck side for which dissection was planned were included. A total of 287 participants were prospectively enrolled from 23 American College of Radiology Imaging Network-qualified institutions.

Development of a Novel Tool to Assess Intimate Partner Violence Against Transgender Individuals.

Intimate partner violence (IPV) takes on unique dimensions when directed against transgender individuals, with perpetrators leveraging transphobia to assert power and control. Standard IPV measurement tools do not assess this type of IPV. Four questions to assess transgender-related IPV (T-IPV) were developed: (a) being forced to conform to an undesired gender presentation or to stop pursuing gender transition; (b) being pressured to remain in a relationship by being told no one would date a transgender person; (c) being "outed" as a form of blackmail; and (d) having transition-related hormones, prosthetics, or clothing hidden or destroyed.

"If He's Abusing You . . . the Baby Is Going to Be Affected": HIV-Positive Pregnant Women's Experiences of Intimate Partner Violence.

Pregnancy represents a time of increased risk for intimate partner violence (IPV), and an HIV diagnosis further increases the vulnerability of this at-risk group. This study explores experiences of recent IPV using qualitative interviews with N = 12 HIV-positive pregnant women recruited from a clinical setting in South Africa, a location with a high global prevalence of IPV and HIV. Partner dynamics around IPV resulted in HIV shame and stigma and adversely affected engagement in HIV care and HIV treatment behaviors.

A Qualitative Analysis of Bystander Intervention Among Heavy-Drinking College Men.

Gastric-Type Endometrial Adenocarcinoma: Report of Two Cases in Patients From the United States.

Gastric-type adenocarcinomas of the uterine cervix have been described within the literature in detail; however, the description of gastric-type endometrial adenocarcinomas is a recent development, with only two cases originating from Japan in the world literature to date. According to these prior reports, the recognition of this pattern of differentiation is critical, as it is often associated with deep myoinvasion, positive regional lymph nodes, and poor outcome despite appropriate adjuvant treatment. We present two cases of endometrial adenocarcinoma with gastric-type differentiation in patients from the United States with superficial myoinvasion and positive patient outcomes.

Research continues to highlight factors associated with developmental immaturity, including persistent delinquency. This article examines whether aspects of developmental immaturity, psychosocial maturity, and emotion regulation are responsive to therapeutic intervention. Fifty-seven female youth in secure residential juvenile justice facilities participated in a randomized controlled trial of the Juvenile Justice Anger Management (JJAM) Treatment for Girls, an intervention that targets skills relevant to psychosocial maturity, including problem-solving, coping, and emotion regulation.

When people make moral judgments, what information do they look for? Despite its theoretical and practical implications, this question has largely been neglected by prior literature. The recent Path Model of Blame predicts a canonical order in which people acquire information when judging blame. Upon discovering a negative event, perceivers consider information about causality, then intentionality, then (if the event is intentional) reasons or (if the event is unintentional) preventability.

Disparities in the Prevalence of Unmet Needs and Their Consequences Among Black and White Older Adults.

Objective: We document differential prevalence of need for assistance with personal, instrumental, and mobility tasks and adverse consequences of unmet needs, nursing home relocation, and mortality among Black and White older adults.

Method: Data are from the National Health and Aging Trends Study. Using logistic and multinomial logistic regression, we determine whether race is predictive of reporting need or adverse consequence and test the role of race as a moderator of the relationship between baseline need and three 1-year outcomes.

Background: The purpose of this investigation is to determine whether osteoporotic intra-articular distal radius fractures surgically treated by filling all 7 distal screws of a volar plate will have a higher load to failure than those treated by filling only 4 distal screws.

Methods: Ten matched pairs of fresh frozen cadaveric forearms were randomized within each pair to be treated by using either all 7 of the distal holes of a volar plate or only 4 distal screws. The distal radius fixation was performed with unicortical screws going to but not through the dorsal cortex, and the most distal screws were placed within 4 mm of the joint surface.

Clinically relevant histological categorization of fibroepithelial lesions can be a daunting task, especially in a core needle biopsy. Assessment of stromal nuclear atypia, including nuclear pleomorphism and mitotic activity, is a key morphological feature employed to classify fibroepithelial lesions. We describe a case of fibroadenoma with markedly atypical nuclear features in the stromal cells that led to misclassification as phyllodes tumor in the core needle biopsy.

A Naturalistic Study of Driving Behavior in Older Adults and Preclinical Alzheimer Disease: A Pilot Study.
