Simple methodology of assessment of analgesics' addictive potential in mice.

Comparative investigation of analgesic (writhing test) and reinforcing (conditioned place preference) effects of 11 opioids over a wide range of doses was performed in mice. On the basis of the dose-response curves analysis, parameters of potency and efficacy of the reinforcing effect were determined. In one group of analgesics (etorphine, fentanyl, buprenorphine, morphine, promedol) ED50 in both tests were approximately equal.

The ultrastructure of microbial colonies was studied. Inside the colonies three types of intercellular contacts were demonstrated. In the colonies of Gram-negative bacteria, the cells were found to be connected by tight adhesions of outer membranes of the cell walls and membrane bridges.

A nonconstitutional translocation, t(1;17)(q21;p11), has been observed in bone marrow cells from a young patient with myelodysplastic syndrome during a 4-year period. Cytogenetic findings and some clinical aspects are briefly discussed.
