It is crucial to recognize upper extremity fragility fractures as sentinel events that allow healthcare professionals the opportunity to identify and address underlying factors contributing to poor bone health, thereby reducing the risk of future fragility fractures. This study seeks to evaluate the extent of understanding and factors influencing osteoporosis in older adults with upper extremity fragility fractures, aiming to establish a foundation for enhancing their comprehension. A total of 1443 participants in 31 provinces were included in this study as survey subjects from September to November 2023.

Background: Circular RNAs participate in the development of periodontitis. The present work aims to reveal the role and mechanism of circ_0087199 in human periodontal ligament cell (PDLC) injury during periodontitis.
Methods: PDLCs were treated with lipopolysaccharides (LPS) to establish a periodontitis cell model.

Background: Several pharmacological agents, such as chloroquine/hydroxychloroquine, have been promoted for COVID-19 treatment or pre-exposure prophylaxis. However, no comprehensive evaluation of the safety of these possible agents is available, and is urgently needed.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the risks of cardiac adverse events associated with the possible pharmacotherapies for COVID-19, including certain antimalarial, antiviral, and antibiotic drugs.

This study aimed to examine factors, healthcare utilization, and medical costs associated with potentially inappropriate use of benzodiazepines in persons living with HIV (PLWH). We used big data from Medicare claims in 2017. Potentially inappropriate use of benzodiazepines was defined as having any benzodiazepine claims in individuals 65+ years or having benzodiazepine claims for more than four weeks in individuals 18-64 years.

Background: In view of the current difficulty of clinically diagnosing osteoarticular tuberculosis, our aim was to use mass spectrometry to establish diagnostic models and to screen and identify serum proteins which could serve as potential diagnostic biomarkers for early detection of osteoarticular tuberculosis.
Methods: Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) was used to select an osteoarticular tuberculosis-specific serum peptide profile and establish diagnostic models. Further, liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) was used to identify potential serum biomarkers that could be used for auxiliary diagnosis of osteoarticular tuberculosis, and then clinical serum samples were used to verify these biomarkers by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).
