Systemic hypertension is a strong risk factor for cardiovascular, neurovascular, and renovascular diseases. Central artery stiffness is both an initiator and indicator of hypertension, thus revealing a critical relationship between the wall mechanics and hemodynamics. Mice have emerged as a critical animal model for studying effects of hypertension and much has been learned.

Objective: To explore the changes of entropy index and cerebral oxygen metabolism in the maintenance of remifentanil anesthesia and the predictive value of postoperative hyperalgesia.
Methods: A total of 266 patients undergoing general anesthesia in our hospital from January 2020 to October 2021 were selected, and remifentanil was used to maintain anesthesia. The state entropy, reaction entropy, and cerebral oxygen metabolism indexes (cerebral oxygen uptake rate (CERO), arterial-venous blood oxygen difference (Da-jvO)) of patients before induction of anesthesia, 15 minutes during the operation, and at the end of the operation were compared.

Background: Vunakizumab (SHR-1314) is a novel interleukin 17A monoclonal antibody that has shown preliminary efficacy and tolerability in phase I trials.
Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of vunakizumab in moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis.
Methods: In this 36-week, multicenter, double-blinded, phase II study (NCT03463187), 187 eligible patients with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis were randomized 1:1:1:1:1 to receive vunakizumab (40, 80, 160, or 240 mg) or placebo subcutaneously, every 4 weeks, until week 12 (2 more drug administrations for the vunakizumab groups on weeks 16 and 20).

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by proliferation and insufficient apoptosis of fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLSs).The biology and functions of interleukin (IL)-34 are only beginning to be uncovered. We previously demonstrated IL-34 could upregulate the expression of IL-17 in RA patients.

Background: Preoperative identification of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients at risk for disease recurrence has proven unreliable. The extraction of quantitative metrics from imaging based on tumor intensity and texture may enhanced disease characterization. This study evaluated tumor-specific F-fluorodeoxyglucose (F-FDG) positron emission tomography/computerized tomography (PET/CT) uptake patterns and their association with disease recurrence in early-stage NSCLC.

Platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) plays an essential role in proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs). The Rb/E2F and TSC/mTOR pathways contribute to the proliferation of VSMCs, but its exact roles in PDGF-induced proliferation are unclear. In this study, we demonstrated the roles of Rb/E2F and TSC/mTOR pathways in PDGF-induced proliferation in VSMCs.

Purpose: Brainstem auditory evoked potential (BAEP) outcomes in obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) patients are inconsistent in some studies because the affecting factors are not well controlled. This study aimed to evaluate BAEP of male and female patients with moderate and severe OSAS and further assess the possible factors influencing BAEP abnormalities.
Methods: Polysomnography were applied to 118 subjects, composed of 84 OSAS patients and 34 control subjects (22 male, 12 female), during the night.

Ewing's sarcoma is the second most common pediatric bone tumor. Primary Ewing's sarcoma occurring in the cerebral cranium is exceptionally rare, with only one reported case of multiple tumor lesions in adolescence to date. We report a case of a 5-year-old male patient with multiple primary Ewing's sarcomas associated with the cranial bones, the first pediatric case report to date.

To examine the HIV/sexually transmitted infection (STI)-related risk behaviours among community-based female sex workers (FSWs) and their clients in Yunnan Province, China, we performed a cross-sectional study of 705 FSWs and 100 male clients. We found that HIV seroprevalence among FSWs was 13.0% and the most prevalent STI was herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) (71.

Objective: Proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) is a crucial event in the pathogenesis of intimal hyperplasia, the main cause of restenosis following vascular reconstruction. Here, the impact of sonic hedgehog (Shh)/Gli family zinc finger 2 (Gli2) signaling on VSMC proliferation was assessed.
Methods And Results: Increased Shh signaling was detected in VSMCs in the neointima of vein grafts obtained from mice undergoing restenosis.

Loss of Heterozygosity (LOH) on chromosome 9p21 (D9S319) from fifty-four laryngeal cancer patients has been examined by using the PCR technique of DNA microsatellite markers in this study. The results showed that the LOH on 9p21 was 100% present (2/2) in in situ carcinomas and 66% (29/44) in invasive carcinomas. Therefore, these results suggest that there is a tumor suppressor gene located on 9p21 region.
