Efficacy and safety of quetiapine extended release monotherapy in bipolar depression: a multi-center, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial.

Rationale: Quetiapine extended release (XR) has been used to treat various psychiatric disorders, including depressive episodes associated with bipolar I and II disorders. Quetiapine XR is the first approved drug in China for the treatment of bipolar disorder.

Objectives: The study evaluated the efficacy and safety of short-term quetiapine XR monotherapy in the treatment of depressive episodes of bipolar I and II disorders.

[Influence of co-culturing vascular endothelial cells and adipose-derived stromal cells on osteogenic differentiation in vitro].

Objective: To further study the influence of the co-cultivation of vascular endothelial cells (VECs) and adipose-derived stromal cells (ADSCs) on cell osteogenic differentiation in vitro and provide experimental evidences of the probability of the co-cultivation of VECs and ADSCs as the seed cells of tissue engineering.

Methods: The VECs derived from cord blood and ADSCs were prepared by full-term pregnancy SD rats and 18-week-old SD rats, to carry on the morphological observation and immunohistochemical staining identification. The third generation of ADSCs and the VECs induced by conditioned medium for 6 weeks were cultured and were divided into groups A, B, and C as the experimental group according to cell ratios of 3 : 1, 1 : 1, and 1 : 3, respectively.

Application of spiral CT image 3D reconstruction in severe talar neck fracture.

Objective: To explore the application of the spiral computerized tomography (CT) image three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction technique associated with the conventional radiography in the diagnosis and treatment of severe talar neck fracture.

Methods: Using the multi-slice spiral CT image 3D reconstruction technique, we analysed 11 cases of talar neck fracture. The fractures were reduced and fixed through a minimal incision and internal fixation with titanium cannulated lag screws.

[Expression and clinical significance of Fas-FasL of pleomorphic adenoma and adenoid cystic carcinoma in parotid gland].

Objective: To determine the expression and clinical significance of Fas and FasL in cases of occurrence and development of pleomorphic adenoma and adenoid cystic carcinoma(ACC) in parotid gland.

Methods: Using Immunohistochemistry techniques and quantitative analysis under computerized system, we investigated Fas-FasL expression in 21 cases of normal parotid gland, 35 cases of pleomorphic adenoma in parotid gland and 32 cases of ACC in parotid gland.

Results: All cases of ACC of parotid gland showed Fas and FasL negative expression, no correlation was found between the expression of Fas-FasL and the histological type and the pathological grades of ACC.

Hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome presenting with intrauterine fetal death. A case report.

Background: Hantavirus infection in pregnancy is rare. Only 2 cases of hantavirus pulmonary syndrome have been reported in the English-language literature. We report a case of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) complicating pregnancy to alert clinicians to this rare possibility.
