High scores on Harm Avoidance (HA) on Cloniger's Temperament and Character Inventory (TCI) have been identified as a risk factor for depression. Group cognitive-behavioral therapy (GCBT) has been found effective in preventing depression and improving depressive symptoms among university students. However, no randomized controlled trials of GCBT have been conducted with university students with high HA.

Pupil Dilation Reflects Emotional Arousal Via Poetic Language.

We investigated pupillary responses to the world's shortest fixed verses, Japanese as aesthetic poetry (AP) and as comic poetry (CP), in comparison with non-poetry control stimuli (NP) comprised of slogans that had the same rhythm patterns. Native Japanese speakers without literary training listened to these stimuli while we recorded their pupil diameters. We found that participants' pupils were significantly dilated for CP compared to NP in an early time window.

Testing the effect of display organization in the collinear search impairment.

Previous studies established that a salient collinear structure impairs local visual search. A display organization hypothesis states that the vertical grouping of elemental bars in the search display may selectively increase the salience of the local target in the background than that in the collinear distractor, leading to the collinear search impairment.
