Carboxymethyl chitosan is widely used in the medical field such as wound healing and other medical fields. We previously fabricated the absorbable macroporous polysaccharides composite hemostatics (AMPCs) mainly composed of carboxymethyl chitosan which possess excellent hemostatic effect. To further elucidate the impact of CMCTs on the hemostatic effect and biosafety of AMPCs, carboxymethyl chitosan with different properties were used to prepare AMPCs.

The tourism industry is seen as having great potential, but tourism development and tourism activities may increase energy consumption and environmental pressure. Based on the provincial panel data of China from 2000 to 2017, we calculate the energy and carbon emission performance by using the non-radial distance function (NDDF) and further investigate the impact of tourism industry agglomeration on energy and carbon emission efficiency by combining the panel fixed effect model, mediation effect model and quantile regression. Our research results show that there is an inverted U-shaped relationship between tourism industry agglomeration and energy and carbon emission efficiency, and tourism industry agglomeration can improve energy and carbon emission efficiency at present.

Purpose: To investigate meibomian gland (MG) alteration in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

Methods: This study included 23 SLE patients evaluated with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Disease Activity Index (SLEDAI) and 21 healthy controls (HCs). All the subjects were evaluated with Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) questionnaire, and the eyes were performed examinations of tear meniscus height (TMH), non-invasive keratographic tear film break-up time (NIKBUT), Schirmer I Test, MG eyelid score, meibography score, and in vivo confocal microscopy (IVCM) on the meibomian gland.

Lucky Events and the Need for Uniqueness.

Psychol Rep

August 2021

Marketing School of Management, 12466Xiamen University, Xiamen, China.

This study shows that people are likely to consider themselves special after experiencing lucky events, which increases the motivation for self-enhancement, consequently prompting them to deviate from majority-endorsed options and express a need for uniqueness. Prior luck-related research has primarily explored the effects of perceived luck on superstition or the illusion of control. The present study explored whether incidental luck affects consumers' motivation to conform or stand out, specifically people's tendency to diverge from others by choosing minority-endorsed options.

Rapid and Quantitative Detection of Aflatoxin B in Grain by Portable Raman Spectrometer.

State Key Laboratory of Physical Chemistry of Solid Surfaces, College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, 12466Xiamen University, Xiamen, China.

Many foodstuffs are extremely susceptible to contamination with aflatoxins, in which aflatoxin B is highly toxic and carcinogenic. Therefore, it is crucial to develop a rapid and effective analytical method for detecting and monitoring aflatoxin B in food. Herein, a surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopic (SERS) method combined with QuEChERS (quick, easy, cheap-effective, rugged, safe) sample pretreatment technique was used to detect aflatoxin B.

Introduction: Broad issues relating to filial piety and ethical dilemmas of families and care practitioners in residential care were discussed as part of an international networking project. It is meaningful to explore the different roles and responsibilities of participants in residential care in the context of China's filial piety. Older residents and their children are part of this caring process, which might be significantly different from that in Western countries.

Objective: To investigate the value of diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) in the evaluation of vocal fold tissue microstructure after recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN) injury.

Methods: Six canines were divided into 2 groups: a unilateral vocal fold paralysis group (n = 4) and a control group (n 2). The RLN was cut in the unilateral vocal fold paralysis group, and no intervention was applied in the control group.
