Objectives: Among advanced multiple myeloma (MM) patients, B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) specific targets like Belantamab Mafodotin (belamaf) and CAR T-cell therapies have been shown to improve clinical outcomes, but at significant costs. To compare the expected costs per quality-adjusted life years (QALYs) gained among a hypothetical cohort of triple refractory MM patients treated with one of three BCMA-directed therapies: (1) idecabtagene vicleucel (ide-cel), (2) ciltacabtagene autoleucel (cilta-cel), and (3) belamaf for up to 20 months.
Methods: In this cost-effectiveness analysis, we built a Monte Carlo Markov Chain microsimulation model using estimates and parameters from the evidence on MM treatment for 10 000 hypothetical patients between the ages for 40 and 80.

Background And Purpose: Brain stimulation is an adjuvant strategy to promote rehabilitation after stroke. Here, we evaluated the influence of inclusion/exclusion criteria on enrollment in a transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) trial in the context of a racially/ethnically diverse acute stroke service at University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW).
Methods: 3124 (59.

Epithelioid rhabdomyosarcoma is a rare rhabdomyosarcoma variant for which no diagnostic recurrent driver genetic events have been identified. Here we report a rapidly progressive and widely metastatic rhabdomyosarcoma with epithelioid features that arose in the thigh of a male infant. Conventional cytogenetics revealed a t(8;13)(p11.

The spindle cell/sclerosing subtype of rhabdomyosarcoma is classified based on genetic features into the three categories of -mutated, gene fusion-driven, and a subset without a currently identified genetic driver event. The gene fusion-driven spindle cell/sclerosing rhabdomyosarcomas are heterogenous and characterized by increasing numbers of gene fusions, the most common gene partners being , , and . Here we report a spindle cell/sclerosing rhabdomyosarcoma that arose in the orbit of a 4-year-old male.

Our objective was to evaluate for any changes in quality or cost when robotic lung resection is used with significant trainee participation. All anatomic lung resections between January 2006 and June 2016 were identified from a prospectively maintained database. Clinical data were recorded by double entry.

We describe two poorly differentiated, non-myofibroblastic (SMA-, S100+, CD34±), spindle cell neoplasms with immunohistochemical positivity for ALK and with gene rearrangements leading to and fusions, respectively. ALK protein overexpression and/or gene fusions should be evaluated in poorly differentiated spindle cell neoplasms, even when there is an absence of a myofibroblastic phenotype. A positive ALK evaluation has therapeutic implications as both tumors responded to single-agent treatment with the tyrosine kinase inhibitor crizotinib.

Compared to the parental SARS-CoV-2 virus, infections by the now dominant Delta variant of SARS-CoV-2 appear to be more common and more severe in pregnant women. The need for a robust, cheap, and quick method for diagnosing placental infection by SARS-CoV-2 has thus become more acute. Here, we describe a highly sensitive and specific immunohistochemical assay for SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid protein for routine use in placental pathology practice.

P53 immunohistochemical staining with antibodies targeted to epitopes at or near the N-terminus are commonly used in diagnostic pathology practice as a surrogate for mutations. The abnormal staining patterns indicating mutations include nuclear overexpression, null, and the recently described cytoplasmic staining. The latter staining pattern occurs with the less common mutations affecting its nuclear localization and/or tetramerization domains that are located toward the C-terminus.

Introduction: Coping mechanisms and emotional regulation are important contributors to psychosocial health during stressful life events. We sought to describe the coping and emotional responses of persons with childhood-onset systemic lupus erythematosus during the transfer from pediatric to adult healthcare.
Methods: Semi-structured in-depth one-on-one interviews were conducted with 13 young women aged 18-24 of minority background who had transferred to adult care in a public hospital system.

Purpose: The COVID-19 pandemic is correlated with decreased physical activity (PA). Transitioning to remote work may impact people's acceptability and preferences for remotely delivered behavioral interventions, including PA. The objective was to examine perceptions of COVID-19 impacts on PA engagement and motivation, and perspectives related to remotely delivered PA interventions.

This study established a suitable animal model of ovariohysterectomy; characterized the course and pattern of vaginal healing after ovariohysterectomy; and compared healing obtained after closure of the vaginal cuff with a novel cuff-closure device (Zip-stitch® clips) and VICRYL sutures. This prospective, randomized, controlled, blinded animal study was conducted in 27 mongrel hounds according to an IACUC-approved protocol. Each animal underwent ovariohysterectomy followed by vaginal cuff closure with Zip-stitch or VICRYL.

Introduction: Macroglossia occurs in 80% to 99% of patients with Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome (BWS) and a variety of surgical techniques for tongue reduction are offered by surgeons. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the postoperative outcomes of the anterior "W" tongue reduction technique in patients with BWS.
Methods: A retrospective review was conducted of all patients diagnosed with BWS that underwent an anterior "W" tongue reduction for macroglossia in the past 7 years, performed by 2 surgeons.
The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the delivery of care to people with epilepsy (PWE) in multiple ways including limitations on in-person contact and restrictions on neurophysiological procedures. To better study the effect of the pandemic on PWE, members of the American Epilepsy Society were surveyed between April 30 and June 14, 2020. There were 366 initial responses (9% response rate) and 337 respondents remained for analysis after screening out noncompleters and those not directly involved with clinical care; the majority were physicians from the United States.
