Qualitative Findings From a Survey on Patient Experiences and Satisfaction with Lung Cancer Screening.

Background: To reveal successes and potential limitations of the lung cancer screening program, we conducted a survey that included both quantitative and open-ended questions to measure patient experiences and satisfaction with screening.

Methods: We report on the five open-ended items related to barriers to returning for screening, experience with other cancer prevention screenings, positive and negative experiences, and suggestions for improving future appointments. The open-ended responses were analyzed using constant comparison method and inductive content analysis.

Music through a cochlear implant (CI) is described as out-of-tune, suggesting that musical intervals are not accurately provided by a CI. One potential reason is that pitch may be insufficiently conveyed to provide reliable intervals. Emergency providers can engage in goals of care discussions and hospice and palliative care referrals. Little is known about their knowledge and attitudes, which may influence these care practices. This study aims to re-validate the knowledge and attitude towards hospice and palliative care (KAHP) scale and assess the scale's latent constructs among emergency providers.

Stress is a Latent Construct: Exploring the Differential Experience of Stress and Discrimination on Depressive Symptoms Among Black Older Adults.

While evidence highlights the detrimental mental health consequences of chronic stress exposure, the impact of this stress exposure on older Black Americans' mental health varies by exposure to other types of stressors like discrimination as well as subjective evaluations of stress like chronic stress appraisal. Using data from the 2010/2012 Health and Retirement Study, we use latent profile analysis (LPA) to describe 2,415 Black older adults experience with chronic stress exposure, appraisal, and discrimination and examine which stress contexts are associated with depressive symptomology. Analyses revealed five stress clusters-demonstrating the diversity in the stress experience for older Black adults.

Assessment of the Operational Characteristics of Research Ethics Committees in Ghana.

There were eighteen Research Ethics Committees (RECs) operating in Ghana as of December 2019 but no empirical assessment of their operational characteristics had been conducted. We assessed the characteristics of Ghanaian RECs using an existing Self-Assessment Tool for RECs in Developing Countries. We present results from nine RECs that participated in this nation-wide assessment.
