Peritoneal keratin granulomatosis is a rare tumor-like lesion caused by deposition of tumor-produced keratin. It may be associated with endometrial or ovarian endometrioid adenocarcinoma, atypical polypoid adenomyoma of the endometrium, or ruptured mature teratomas of the ovary. We present 2 cases of peritoneal keratin granulomatosis associated with FIGO (International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics) stage 1 endometrial adenocarcinoma.

The primary objective of this study was to describe and compare the modus operandi, and associated contextual and situational factors, of French serial sexual murderers (SSMs) and nonserial sexual murderers (NSMs). A further objective was to verify the generalizability of the conclusions of James and Proulx's 2016 systematic review of the modus operandi of sexual murderers, the majority of whom were American or English. Detailed data on the precrime, modus operandi, postcrime, and victimology factors of 120 French sexual murderers (SSMs: = 33; NSMs: = 87) were compared.

We report the case of a 94-year-old man with a rapidly growing nodule on the preauricular area, which on histology showed a poorly differentiated spindle cell tumor with negative p63 and p40 antibody immunostains, negative high- and low-molecular-weight cytokeratins albeit for a focal expression of cytokeratin AE1/AE3. Spindle cell melanoma, angiosarcoma, and leiomyosarcoma were excluded. We explore the diagnostic approach to this challenging conundrum.

The increasing need for mental health services in the population is posing significant challenges for the health system. It is therefore important to identify new approaches to delivering care that are sustainable and scalable in terms of reach and impact. E-mental health is one approach that shows promise in addressing the treatment gap in mental healthcare.

Patrick O'Byrne criticizes the use of ethnography in public health research focused on cultural groups. His main argument is that ethnography disciplines marginalized populations that do not respect the imperative of health. In this article, I argue that O'Byrne has an erroneous understanding of ethnography and the politics of scientific research.

Objective: Precision medicine initiatives for chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) management suggest tailoring treatment to the patient's individual disease profile; however, serum biomarkers for evaluation of disease activity or predicting response to therapy are lacking in CRS. Epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) has been described as a component of barrier dysfunction in CRS. SPARC (secreted protein acidic and rich in cysteine) is a marker of EMT that has previously been identified in sinus epithelium by gene expression profiling.

The purpose of the current study was to test if changes in habit, as well as other behavioral strategy constructs from the Multi-Process Action Control Test, mediated between group condition and MVPA (self-report and accelerometry).
Methods: Inactive new gym members (N = 94) were randomized into control or experimental (habit-building) groups.

This study examines the relationship between the vulnerabilities of individuals and their assessments of their primary care experiences in the setting of a universal care system. It focuses on 2 specific objectives: (1) evaluating the influence of each of the 5 vulnerabilities on the assessment of the care experience; (2) evaluating the influence of the interactions between the different types of vulnerabilities on the assessment of the care experience. The study identifies the primary care experience of 9,206 people.

Objectives Endolymphatic sac (ELS) pathophysiology in Ménière's disease (MD) remains poorly understood. We identified from the literature a group of proteins expressed on the ELS and involved in endolymph volume regulation: aquaporin-2 (AQP2), vasopressin receptor V2R, sodium potassium chloride cotransporter 2 (NKCC2), and transient receptor potential cation channel V4 (TRPV4). Our objective was to determine whether their ELS expression was altered in MD, to better understand the pathophysiology of endolymphatic hydrops.

Purpose: Nurses are identified as a key provider in the management of patients in primary care. The objective of this study was to evaluate patients' experience of care in primary care as it pertained to the nursing role. The aim was to test the hypothesis that, in primary health care organizations (PHCOs) where patients are systematically followed by a nurse, and where nursing competencies are therefore optimally used, patients' experience of care is better.

This study investigated the day-to-day deviant and nondeviant sexuality of a sample of Canadian sexual aggressors against women ( N = 160). Using latent class analysis, three latent classes were identified: internalized deviant (ID), low sexual problem (LSP), and hypersexual deviant (HD). Following the latent class analysis, the developmental, physiological, cognitive, and criminological correlates of these lifestyles were analyzed.

While there has been continued growth in family nursing knowledge, the complex process of implementing and sustaining family nursing in health care settings continues to be a challenge for family nursing researchers and clinicians alike. Developing knowledge and skills about how to translate family nursing theory to practice settings is a global priority to make family nursing more visible. There is a critical need for more research methods and research evidence about how to best move family nursing knowledge into action.

A wide breadth of research has recognized that seclusion and restraint affects patients, staff, and organizations alike. Therefore, it is essential to understand the viewpoints of all stakeholders to improve practices. The study aimed to understand the context in which seclusion and restraint practices are employed based on the perceptions of staff and inpatients in a psychiatric ward.

Method: Data are from the International Mobility in Aging Study ( n = 1,676). The Bem Sex Role Inventory was used to classify participants into four gender roles as "masculine," "feminine," "androgynous," and "undifferentiated.
Sexual sadism can be described as the sexual pleasure produced by acts of cruelty and bodily punishment. The most common method for evaluating sexual sadism is clinical evaluation, that is, evaluation based on the diagnostic criteria of nosological instruments such as the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders ( DSM) or the International Classification of Diseases (ICD). It is also possible to evaluate sadistic sexual preferences by phallometry, which provides a physiological measure of sexual excitation by deviant and nondeviant scenarios.

Almost one third of older patients hospitalized for acute care suffer functional decline. Few studies have investigated the point of view of older patients on prevention of this decline. Within the framework of a descriptive qualitative study, the perceptions of 30 hospitalized older adults were collected regarding their personal prevention strategies, the barriers to implementing these, and nursing staff interventions deemed useful.
