There is uncertainty concerning the benefits and harms of interrupted and uninterrupted anticoagulation in patients undergoing CIED surgery.

Objectives: To assess the benefits and harms of interrupted anticoagulation (IAC) with either warfarin or DOAC in the perioperative period of CIED surgery versus uninterrupted anticoagulation (UAC), with or without heparin bridging, during an equivalent time frame, for CIED surgery.

Background: Awake prone positioning (APP) can reportedly reduce the need for intubation and help improve prognosis of patients with acute hypoxemic respiratory failure (AHRF) infected with COVID-19. However, its physiological mechanism remains unclear. In this study, we evaluated the effect of APP on lung ventilation in patients with moderate-to-severe AHRF to better understand the effects on ventilation distribution and to prevent intubation in non-intubated patients.

Background: External jugular vein (EJV) is used to insert tunneled dialysis catheter (TDC) in patients with no AVF and exhausted right internal jugular veins (IJV). There is scarce data on TDC insertion in EJV by nephrologists with fluoroscopy guidance.

Materials And Methods: This was a prospective observational study that included hemodialysis patients with exhausted right IJV access who underwent EJV TDC insertion, and excluded occluded ipsilateral brachiocephalic vein or superior vena cava, EJV < 5 mm diameter, or patients with existing EJV TDC.

Renal limited sarcoidosis presenting with acute kidney injury.

Sarcoidosis is a multisystem granulomatous disease of unknown etiology, characterized by noncaseating epithelioid granuloma, multinucleate giant cells, and tissue destruction. While lung and lymph node involvement is common, isolated renal involvement is rare. We report the case of a 55-year-old female patient, with renal limited sarcoidosis, who presented with worsening sensorium and acute kidney injury.

The electrochemical nitrate reduction reaction (NORR) is considered as a promising strategy for addressing environmental pollution and sustainable energy development. In this study, prism-like CuO loaded on copper foam (CuO/CF) was synthesized in a simple solvothermal reaction and an electrochemical reconstruction process. The electrochemical reconstruction process facilitates the formation of a CuO lattice structure on copper foam derived from FU-CF generated by the reaction of copper foam and fumaric acid (HFU) in DMF.

Association between occupational exposure to gasoline and anemia: a retrospective cohort study in China.

Background: Anemia is a major global burden, and occupational gasoline exposure is a common occupational hazard factor. Although previous studies have shown that there is a potential relationship between occupational gasoline exposure and the increase of anemia prevalence, this relationship has not been fully explored. Background: Childlessness, as well as having a high number of children, has been reported to be associated with an elevated risk of dementia compared to having 2-3 children. The mechanisms underlying these relationships are not well understood and may be mediated by different midlife risk factors. We examined the mediating role of various factors on the relationship between the number of children and dementia risk.

msiFlow: automated workflows for reproducible and scalable multimodal mass spectrometry imaging and microscopy data analysis.

Multimodal imaging by matrix-assisted laser desorption ionisation mass spectrometry imaging (MALDI MSI) and microscopy holds potential for understanding pathological mechanisms by mapping molecular signatures from the tissue microenvironment to specific cell populations. However, existing software solutions for MALDI MSI data analysis are incomplete, require programming skills and contain laborious manual steps, hindering broadly applicable, reproducible, and high-throughput analysis to generate impactful biological discoveries. Here, we present msiFlow, an accessible open-source, platform-independent and vendor-neutral software for end-to-end, high-throughput, transparent and reproducible analysis of multimodal imaging data.

Current Practices and Evidence of Aspirin Usage in Microvascular Surgery: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

Background: Acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) has been used in reconstructive microsurgery since the inception of the field. However, when compared to placebo groups, its efficacy is not confirmed. Background: Methadone maintenance treatment (MMT) is effective for treating opioid dependence. However, nonadherence can increase the risk of withdrawal syndrome, relapse, and overdose.

Methods: A community-based randomized controlled trial was conducted on 450 opioid-dependent patients undergoing MMT at three clinics in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
