Differential impact from individual versus collective misinformation tagging on the diversity of Twitter (X) information engagement and mobility.

Fears about the destabilizing impact of misinformation online have motivated individuals and platforms to respond. Individuals have increasingly challenged others' online claims with fact-checks in pursuit of a healthier information ecosystem and to break down echo chambers of self-reinforcing opinion. Using Twitter (now X) data, here we show the consequences of individual misinformation tagging: tagged posters had explored novel political information and expanded topical interests immediately prior, but being tagged caused posters to retreat into information bubbles.

The Evaluation of Urinary HE4, CEA, ProGRP, CYFRA 21-1 and NSE in the Diagnosis of Lung Cancer.

Objective: Urinary proteins are effective tumor biomarkers. Human epididymis protein 4 (HE4), progastrin-releasing peptide (ProGRP), carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), cytokeratin-19 fragment 21-1(CYFRA 21-1), and neuron-specific enolase (NSE) in serum, were proposed as tumor biomarkers of lung cancer. Our aim was to identify the urine protein biomarkers that can distinguish patients with lung cancer from healthy individuals and/or patients with benign lung disease with a high level of sensitivity and specificity.

Comparison of Liquid-Based Cytology EASYPREP and SurePath for Detection of High-Risk HPV Genotypes.

Objective: Molecular testing for high-risk human papillomavirus (hrHPV) genotypes is important for cervical cancer screening. In this study, we compared the HPV detection rates using real-time PCR in cervical samples collected using two different liquid-based cytology (LBC) kits.

Methods: Cervical swab specimens were prospectively collected using the SurePath and EASYPREP collection kits.

Falsely Elevated HbA1c Levels in a Patient with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and Multiple Beta Globulin Gene Mutations.

We present a patient with type 2 diabetes mellitus and a variant hemoglobin whose HbA1c levels were falsely elevated regardless of the measurement method [high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), enzymatic, and immuno-assay] used. The causes of the falsely high HbA1c levels in this patient were investigated. The patient was a 73-year-old man with frequent hypoglycemia on self-monitoring of blood glucose, whose HbA1c level when measured by HPLC (standard mode) and immunoassay was substantially higher than that predicted by continuous blood glucose monitoring or from the patient's glycated albumin level.

Effect of CXCR2 Deficiency in HeLa Cell on the Regulatory Network of Coding Genes and Non-Coding RNAs.

Objective: C-X-C motif chemokine receptor 2 (CXCR2) plays a crucial role in inflammation and immunity, and the involvement of chemokine receptors in the tumor microenvironment is extensively documented. However, the impact of CXCR2 deficiency on the complete transcriptome, including mRNA and ncRNAs, in tumor cells remains unclear.

Methods: In this study, we aimed to identify differentially expressed (DE) messenger RNA (mRNAs), long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), and circular RNAs (circRNAs) in CXCR2 knockout HeLa cells through transcriptome sequencing and to construct regulatory networks.

Objective: The aim of the present study was to determine the effects of selenium-methylselenocysteine (MSC) on the viability, migration, and glycolysis of human ATC cell lines 8305 and BHT101 .

Methods: Cells were treated with MSC and viability was determined using the Cell Counting Kit 8 assay. The migratory ability of cells was detected using a Transwell migration assay, and the expression levels of proteins involved in the ERK1/2, JNK, and p38 signaling pathways were measured by western blotting.

Purpose: Pneumonia, respiratory failure, and fracture are common and highly burdensome for adults with cerebral palsy (CP). To date, there are no clinically friendly tools to assess individualized risk of these outcomes for adults with CP. The objective was to develop and validate prognostic models for 5-year risk of pneumonia, respiratory failure/collapse, and fracture for adults with CP.

Simulation-based training improves developmental hip dysplasia examination and diagnosis skills on newborns.

Background: Examination maneuvers used to diagnose developmental hip dysplasia (DDH) translate poorly to video and written curricula. This poses a challenge to teaching the infant hip exam to orthopedic, family medicine, and pediatric trainees. This work investigated the impact of the MiHip simulation-based training program on residents' knowledge, confidence, and exam skills in the simulated setting, and translation of these skills to the clinical setting.

Higher Rate of Reinterventions After Transfemoral Carotid Artery Stenting in Symptomatic Patients: A Retrospective Stroke Center's Cohort Study between 2015-2024.

Introduction: Carotid artery stenosis is a significant contributor to ischemic strokes, and its surgical management includes carotid artery endarterectomy (CEA), transfemoral carotid artery stenting (TF-CAS), and trans carotid artery revascularization (TCAR). CEA has traditionally been preferred, but TF-CAS and TCAR are also excellent alternative options if the anatomy of the vessels allows them. This study reports our short- and mid-term outcomes after carotid artery revascularization in symptomatic patients at a stroke center.

Development of a clinical and ultrasonic parameter-based nomogram model to predict restenosis after superficial femoral artery stenting.

Objectives: Prediction of in-stent restenosis (ISR) is clinically important for patients with peripheral artery disease in their superficial femoral arteries (SFA) who have been treated with stenting. The aim of this study was to construct and validate a predictive model for ISR after SFA stenting based on a series of clinical and ultrasonic parameters.

Methods: This retrospective study included 381 patients who were treated with self-expanding bare nitinol stents in their SFA at our hospital between January 1, 2018, and January 1, 2022.

The role of non-respiratory arousals in residual daytime sleepiness in patients with obstructive sleep apnea treated with positive airway pressure: An analysis of the European Sleep Apnea Database registry.

Study Objectives: To assess the impact of the non-respiratory arousal burden at baseline polysomnography (PSG) on residual daytime sleepiness in positive airway pressure (PAP)-treated obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).

Methods: We included OSA patients from the European Sleep Apnea Database registry with available arousal data who had at least 2 treatment follow-up visits. The primary outcome was the Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS) score under PAP.

Purpose: The purpose of this systematic review was to consolidate and summarize available data comparing virtual reality perimetry (VRP) with standard automated perimetry (SAP) in adults with glaucoma. Understanding the utility and diagnostic performance of emerging VRP technology may expand access to visual field testing but requires evidence-based validation.

Targeting Protein-Protein Interactions in Hematologic Malignancies.

Over the last two decades, there have been extensive efforts to develop small-molecule inhibitors of protein-protein interactions (PPIs) as novel therapeutics for cancer, including hematologic malignancies. Despite the numerous challenges associated with developing PPI inhibitors, a significant number of them have advanced to clinical studies in hematologic patients in recent years. The US Food and Drug Administration approval of the very first PPI inhibitor, venetoclax, demonstrated the real clinical value of blocking protein-protein interfaces.

Iodinated Contrast Adsorption in Cartridges With Styrene-Divinylbenzene Sorbent.

Background: Contrast-associated acute kidney injury (CA-AKI) is frequent in patients with chronic kidney disease who are submitted to cardiac endovascular procedures using iodinated contrast. In hemoadsorption, cartridges containing styrene-divinylbenzene sorbent resin are applied to remove substances from the blood through an extracorporeal circuit. Importantly, iodinated contrast is also removed via adsorption.
