Fears about the destabilizing impact of misinformation online have motivated individuals and platforms to respond. Individuals have increasingly challenged others' online claims with fact-checks in pursuit of a healthier information ecosystem and to break down echo chambers of self-reinforcing opinion. Using Twitter (now X) data, here we show the consequences of individual misinformation tagging: tagged posters had explored novel political information and expanded topical interests immediately prior, but being tagged caused posters to retreat into information bubbles.

We present a patient with type 2 diabetes mellitus and a variant hemoglobin whose HbA1c levels were falsely elevated regardless of the measurement method [high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), enzymatic, and immuno-assay] used. The causes of the falsely high HbA1c levels in this patient were investigated. The patient was a 73-year-old man with frequent hypoglycemia on self-monitoring of blood glucose, whose HbA1c level when measured by HPLC (standard mode) and immunoassay was substantially higher than that predicted by continuous blood glucose monitoring or from the patient's glycated albumin level.

Introduction: Carotid artery stenosis is a significant contributor to ischemic strokes, and its surgical management includes carotid artery endarterectomy (CEA), transfemoral carotid artery stenting (TF-CAS), and trans carotid artery revascularization (TCAR). CEA has traditionally been preferred, but TF-CAS and TCAR are also excellent alternative options if the anatomy of the vessels allows them. Background: Contrast-associated acute kidney injury (CA-AKI) is frequent in patients with chronic kidney disease who are submitted to cardiac endovascular procedures using iodinated contrast. In hemoadsorption, cartridges containing styrene-divinylbenzene sorbent resin are applied to remove substances from the blood through an extracorporeal circuit. Importantly, iodinated contrast is also removed via adsorption.
