Introduction: Intravenous loop diuretics have been a key component in treating pulmonary oedema since the 1960s and have a Class 1 recommendation in the 2021 guidelines for acute heart failure (AHF). While the diuretic effect of loop diuretics is well established, it remains unclear how furosemide influences pulmonary congestion and cardiac filling pressures in the hyperacute phase before significant diuresis occurs.

Methods: This was a prospective study of adult patients with AHF and objective signs of pulmonary congestion admitted to the cardiac ward.

In solid tumor oncology, circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) is poised to transform care through accurate assessment of minimal residual disease (MRD) and therapeutic response monitoring. To overcome the sparsity of ctDNA fragments in low tumor fraction (TF) settings and increase MRD sensitivity, we previously leveraged genome-wide mutational integration through plasma whole-genome sequencing (WGS). Here we now introduce MRD-EDGE, a machine-learning-guided WGS ctDNA single-nucleotide variant (SNV) and copy-number variant (CNV) detection platform designed to increase signal enrichment.

Introduction: Diabetes is associated with dysregulated immune function and impaired cytokine release, while transient acute hyperglycaemia has been shown to enhance inflammatory cytokine release in preclinical studies. Although diabetes and acute hyperglycaemia are common among patients with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP), the impact of chronic, acute, and acute-on-chronic hyperglycaemia on the host response within this population remains poorly understood. This study investigated whether chronic, acute, and acute-on- chronic hyperglycaemia are associated with distinct mediators of inflammatory, endothelial, and angiogenic host response pathways in patients with CAP.

This review investigates that, in 2023, fatty liver disease underwent a name change to "steatotic liver disease" (SLD). SLD now includes metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), alcohol-related liver disease (ALD), and metabolic and alcohol-related liver disease (MetALD). The renaming aims to better incorporate alcohol intake and metabolic risk factors into disease classification and to diminish the stigma associated with the previous nomenclature.

Study Question: Is there an association between the length of in vitro culture, mode of ART and the initial endogenous hCG rise, in cycles with a foetal heartbeat after single embryo transfer (ET) and implantation?

Summary Answer: Both the length of in vitro culture and the mode of ART have an impact on the initial endogenous rise in hCG in singleton pregnancies.

What Is Known Already: Different factors have been identified to alter the kinetics of hCG in pregnancies. Current studies show conflicting results regarding the kinetics of hCG after different types of ART (fresh vs frozen ET (FET)), the inclusion or not of preimplantation genetic testing (PGT), and the length of time in in vitro culture.
