Purpose: Young adults with autism spectrum disorder (YAASD) often lack the skills needed for successful adult living and subsequently develop lower quality of life and health in adulthood. Therefore, we developed a framework to support resilience and improve quality of life in YAASD, which will be used to develop a life-skills curriculum for YAASD.

Purpose: Motivational interviewing (MI) techniques are used by health care teams to engage adolescents and young adults (AYAs) in health care self-management and pediatric to adult health care transition (HCT) planning efforts. The aim of this study was to assess the initial level of motivation of AYAs prior to receipt of HCT anticipatory guidance and to determine associations with demographic and health coverage factors.

Uncertainty quantification in coupled wildfire-atmosphere simulations at scale.

Uncertainties in wildfire simulations pose a major challenge for making decisions about fire management, mitigation, and evacuations. However, ensemble calculations to quantify uncertainties are prohibitively expensive with high-fidelity models that are needed to capture today's ever-more intense and severe wildfires. This work shows that surrogate models trained on related data enable scaling multifidelity uncertainty quantification to high-fidelity wildfire simulations of unprecedented scale with billions of degrees of freedom.

Improving debriefing practices for participants in social science experiments.

Social science experiments often expose participants to false, deceptive, or otherwise harmful content. In an effort to mitigate the effects of such content and to comply with regulatory standards, these studies usually conclude by "debriefing" participants about the content they encountered, on the assumption that doing so will eliminate the effects of exposure. We present evidence showing that this assumption is not always correct.

COVID-19 highlights the need to improve resilience and equity in managing small-scale fisheries.

The COVID-19 pandemic exposed the fragility of global and domestic seafood markets. We examined the main impacts and responses of the small-scale fisheries (SSF) sector, and found that mitigation and preparedness strategies should be prioritised to boost resilience in SSF. We provide five policy options and considerations: (1) improving access to insurance and financial services; (2) strengthening local and regional markets and supporting infrastructure; (3) recognising fisheries as an essential service; (4) integrating disaster risk management into fisheries management systems; and (5) investing in Indigenous and locally-led fisheries management.
