This study evaluates the potential of erbium, chromium-doped:yttrium, scandium, gallium, and garnet (Er,Cr:YSGG) laser irradiation to modify the titanium surface for optimal seeding of fibroblasts and osteoblasts in the treatment of peri-implantitis. Titanium discs were treated using the Er,Cr:YSGG laser, an ultrasonic device with a stainless tip, or titanium scalers. Changes in surface properties were analyzed by profilometer and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

Elavl1/HuR is a RNA binding protein implicated in multiple developmental processes with pleiotropic roles in RNA life cycle. Loss of Elavl1 is incompatible with life with early embryonic loss of Elavl1 in epiblast cells being lethal with defects in placental branching and embryonic tissue growth. Postnatal global deletion of Elavl1/HuR results in lethality with atrophy in multiple tissues mainly due to loss of progenitor cells.

Dendritic cells (DCs) are uniquely capable of transporting tumor antigens to tumor-draining lymph nodes (tdLNs) and interact with effector T cells in the tumor microenvironment (TME) itself, mediating both natural antitumor immunity and the response to checkpoint blockade immunotherapy. Using LIPSTIC (Labeling Immune Partnerships by SorTagging Intercellular Contacts)-based single-cell transcriptomics, we identified individual DCs capable of presenting antigen to CD4 T cells in both the tdLN and TME. Our findings revealed that DCs with similar hyperactivated transcriptional phenotypes interact with helper T cells both in tumors and in the tdLN and that checkpoint blockade drugs enhance these interactions.

Introduction: Maxillary sinus floor elevation is a surgical procedure intended to increase the volume of the bone vertically to accommodate dental implant placement. This intervention is frequently required for implant installation in the posterior maxilla, where the bone may be insufficient for securing implants of necessary length and stability. Sinus floor elevation can be completed either through a direct approach with a "window" through the lateral wall of the alveolar ridge or an indirect "transcrestal/transalveolar" sinus floor elevation (TSFE), which accesses the sinus floor through the crest of the edentulous ridge.

At present, a lack of consensus exists regarding the clinical impact of osteoporosis on alveolar bone metabolism during implant osseointegration. While limited preclinical and clinical evidence demonstrates a negative influence of osteoporosis on dental extraction socket healing, no preclinical studies offer data on the results of implant placement in 6-mo-old, ovariectomized (OVX) Sprague-Dawley rats. Objectives: The objective of this study was to characterize the current oral medicine (OM) workforce by examining the distribution of OM diplomates (OMDs) across the Unites States and to determine the need for expanding access to care.
Study Design: The OMD access was calculated based on the OMDs per 10,000 state population from the 2020 US Census data as well as their distance from state capitals and most populated cities. OMD penetrance in hospitals and cancer centers was assessed at National Cancer Care Network (NCCN) cancer centers, and Best Hospitals as reported in the 2022 US News and World Report (USNWR).

Background: Patients with developmental disabilities may exhibit behavioral problems or be unable to maintain proper hygiene, potentially placing them at greater risk for infection following the extraction of third molars.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to estimate and compare the risk for surgical site infection after third molar removal between patients with and without developmental disabilities.
