Thermoelectric refrigeration, utilizing Peltier effect, has great potential in all-solid-state active cooling field near room temperature. The performance of a thermoelectric cooling device is highly determined by the power factor of consisting materials besides the figure of merit. In this work, it is demonstrated that successive addition of Cu and Nd can realize non-trivial modulation of deformation potential in n-type room temperature thermoelectric material BiTeSe and result in a significant increment of electron mobility and remarkably enhanced power factor.

The scaling of bulk Si-based transistors has reached its limits, while novel architectures such as FinFETs and GAAFETs face challenges in sub-10 nm nodes due to complex fabrication processes and severe drain-induced barrier lowering (DIBL) effects. An effective strategy to avoid short-channel effects (SCEs) is the integration of low-dimensional materials into novel device architectures, leveraging the coupling between multiple gates to achieve efficient electrostatic control of the channel. We employed TCAD simulations to model multi-gate FETs based on various dimensional systems and comprehensively investigated electric fields, potentials, current densities, and electron densities within the devices.

To enhance the adaptability and synergy of the triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) in a wave environment, this paper introduces a directional adaptive triboelectric nanogenerator (DA-TENG) with wind-water synergistic action for wave energy collection. An innovative design combining a wind vane on the top and fan-shaped blade electrodes internally allows the DA-TENG to adjust its swinging direction adaptively to align with the direction of wave motion. The internal multiple power generation units work in coordination, effectively addressing the issues of low efficiency associated with spherical TENGs in capturing multidirectional wave energy.

Osmotic energy from the ocean has been thoroughly studied, but that from saline-alkali lakes is constrained by the ion-exchange membranes due to the trade-off between permeability and selectivity, stemming from the unfavorable structure of nanoconfined channels, pH tolerance, and chemical stability of the membranes. Inspired by the rapid water transport in xylem conduit structures, we propose a horizontal transport MXene (H-MXene) with ionic sequential transport nanochannels, designed to endure extreme saline-alkali conditions while enhancing ion selectivity and permeability. The H-MXene demonstrates superior ion conductivity of 20.

The state-of-the-art triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) technology has numerous advantages and creates new prospects for the rapid development of the Internet of Things (IoT) in marine environments. Here, to accelerate the application process of TENG, an elaborately designed multilayered sleeve-structured hybrid nanogenerator (M-HNG) is developed to efficiently and persistently harvest marine energy. The M-HNG integrates an electromagnetic nanogenerator (EMG) with four coils and a multilayered sleeve-structured TENG (MS-TENG) with three freestanding layer units to increase spatial utilization efficiency.

Triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) have recently emerged as a promising technology for efficient water wave energy harvesting. However, there is a paucity of clear guidance regarding the optimal designs of TENGs and their shells to achieve efficient absorption and conversion of water wave energy in real random waves. Herein, from the perspective of wave-body interaction and energy transfer, this paper proposes a structural quality factor (Q) for the quantitative evaluation of both the motion of floating triboelectric nanogenerator (Flo-TENG) shells and their capability to absorb and convert water wave energy efficiently.

The long-term durability of triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) remains a main challenge for practical applications because of inevitable material abrasion and wear, especially for sliding TENGs. Herein, an inorganic triboelectric pair composed of diamond-like carbon (DLC) and glass with excellent durability and triboelectric output for sliding-mode TENGs is proposed. This triboelectric pair possesses a low coefficient of friction and little abrasion and accordingly excellent durability (>500 000 cycles).
