This study aimed to comprehensively examine the association of gallstones, cholecystectomy, and cancer risk. Multivariable logistic regressions were performed to estimate the observational associations of gallstones and cholecystectomy with cancer risk, using data from a nationwide cohort involving 239 799 participants. General and gender-specific two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis was further conducted to assess the causalities of the observed associations.

By integrating inter-channel features with intra-channel features, the self-attention mechanism generates a deep feature vector that encompasses information from all brain activities.

The impact of glucose metabolism on inflammatory processes in sepsis-induced acute lung injury.

Acute lung injury (ALI) is a prevalent and critical complication of sepsis, marked by high incidence and mortality rates, with its pathogenesis still not being fully elucidated. Recent research has revealed a significant correlation between the metabolic reprogramming of glucose and sepsis-associated ALI (S-ALI). Ileocecal mucinous carcinoma misdiagnosed as incarcerated hernia: A case report.

Mucinous carcinoma is a rare clinical disease. Although well described in the literature, a mucinous carcinoma diagnosis is often difficult due to its atypical clinical presentation. We report a female patient with a right inguinal mass and ileocecal myxo carcinoma who was misdiagnosed as having a right incarcerated inguinal hernia invading the peritoneum incarcerated inguinal hernia and ileocecal myxo carcinoma.

An intracranial yolk sac tumor with initial symptom of hemorrhage in the basal ganglia: a case report.

We report a case and follow-up of an adult male with intracranial yolk sac tumor (YST). Initially, the patient presented with abnormal high signals in the right basal ganglia on MRI, misdiagnosed as a cavernous hemangioma. However, within 2 years, the condition rapidly progressed into a large, hypervascular solid neoplasm leading to a basal ganglia hemorrhage.

Technique of Distal Tendon Excision for the Treatment of Chronic Pain Caused by Isolated Proximal Gracilis Tears.

Proximal gracilis tear is a rare sports-related injury that can easily lead to misdiagnosis and underdiagnosis. Clinical manifestations are dominated by localized pain, tenderness, and dysfunction. Here, we report a therapy of proximal segmental tear of the gracilis and demonstrate its treatment process and clinical outcome.

CICADA: a circRNA effort toward the ghost proteome.

Recent studies have confirmed that certain circRNAs encode proteins that are integral to various biological functions. In this study, we present CICADA, an algorithm specifically designed to assess the protein-coding potential and coding products of circRNAs at high throughput, which enables the identification of previously unknown circRNA-encoded proteins. By harnessing the potential of this algorithm, we identified a variety of functional, protein-coding circRNAs in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma and established circRNA translation profiles for diverse types of cancer.

Stemness regulation in prostate cancer: prostate cancer stem cells and targeted therapy.

Background: Increasing evidence indicates that cancer stem cells (CSCs) and cancer stem-like cells form a special subpopulation of cells that are ubiquitous in tumors. These cells exhibit similar characteristics to those of normal stem cells in tissues; moreover, they are capable of self-renewal and differentiation, as well as high tumorigenicity and drug resistance. In prostate cancer (PCa), it is difficult to kill these cells using androgen signaling inhibitors and chemotherapy drugs.
