Background: The association between different anthropometric indices, including body mass index (BMI), a body shape index (ABSI), lipid accumulation product (LAP), visceral adiposity index (VAI), waist circumference-triglyceride index (WTI), weight-adjusted waist index (WWI), body roundness index (BRI) and the prevalence of overactive bladder (OAB) is unclear. This investigation aims to explore the association among different anthropometric indices and overactive bladder as well as confounding variables.
Methods: Data were obtained from the USA National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) data set between 2005 and 2018, and 15231 participants were included in the study.

Background: In China, investigations into the efficacy of neurological clinical teaching try to ascertain the impacts of various teaching methods on intervention outcomes. However, these studies often suffer from limited sample sizes, single-center studies and low quality, compounded by the lack of direct comparative analyses between teaching methods, thereby leaving the identification of the most effective method unresolved. This study aims to compare the effectiveness of various teaching methods in the standardized training of Chinese neurology clinicians to inform an optimal teaching model utilizing a Bayesian network meta-analysis (NMA) approach.

Wogonin is a compound extracted from the medicinal plant Scutellaria baicalensis Geogi and has been found to exert antitumor activities in a variety of malignancies. However, the molecular mechanisms involved in the anti-gastric cancer (GC) effects of wogonin remain poorly understood. In the present study, we found that wogonin treatment inhibited the proliferation of GC cells, induced apoptosis and G0/G1 cell arrest, and suppressed the migration and invasion of SGC-7901 and BGC-823 cells in vitro.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune inflammatory demyelinating disease that results in motor, sensory, cognitive, and affective deficits. Hippocampal demyelination, a common occurrence in MS, is linked to impaired cognitive function and mood. Despite this, the precise mechanisms underlying cognitive impairments in MS remain elusive.

Abnormal trinucleotide CAG repeat expansions in exon 1 of the Androgen Receptor (AR) gene has been identified as the cause of Kennedy disease (KD). We generated and characterized a human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) line from peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) of a patient with genetically confirmed KD. The pluripotency of these iPSCs was verified by the expression of several pluripotency markers at both RNA and protein levels, as well as their capability to differentiate into all three germ layers.

Chronic diabetic wound poses a pressing global healthcare challenge, necessitating an approach to address issues such as pathogenic bacteria elimination, blood sugar regulation, and angiogenesis stimulation. Herein, we engineered a BiWO@CuO-GOx bio-heterojunction (BWCG bio-HJ) with exceptional cascade catalytic performance and impressive sonosensitivity to remodel the wound microenvironment and expedite the diabetic wound healing. Specifically, the Z-scheme junctions of BiWO@CuO significantly augmented carrier separation dynamics, leading to the highly efficient generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) upon US irradiations.

Background: Interleaflet haemorrhage (IH) plays a well-recognized detrimental role in calcified aortic valve disease (CAVD). However, IH-induced fibro-osteogenic responses in valvular interstitial cells (VICs) appear to be triggered under specific pathological conditions. Iron deficiency (ID), a common co-morbidity in CAVD, may influence these responses.

Background: Previous trials have failed to demonstrate the benefits of extracranial-intracranial (EC-IC) bypass surgery for patients with carotid or middle cerebral artery occlusion. However, little evidence has focused on the effect of age on prognosis. This study aimed to explore whether EC-IC bypass surgery can provide greater benefits than medical therapy alone in specific age groups.

Acute ischemic stroke (AIS) triggers immune responses and neuroinflammation, contributing to brain injury. Histone lactylation, a metabolic stress-related histone modification, plays a critical role in various diseases, but its involvement in cerebral ischemia remains unclear. This study utilized a transient middle cerebral artery occlusion/reperfusion (MCAO/R) model and an oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation (OGD/R) model to investigate the role of microglial histone lactylation in ischemia-reperfusion injury.

Diagnosing cancer subtypes is a prerequisite for precise treatment. Existing multi-omics data fusion-based diagnostic solutions build on the requisite of sufficient samples with complete multi-omics data, which is challenging to obtain in clinical applications. To address the bottleneck of collecting sufficient samples with complete data in clinical applications, we proposed a flexible integrative model (CancerSD) to diagnose cancer subtype using limited samples with incomplete multi-omics data.
