This paper presents the results of a study on the effect of the dispersed phase on the lubricating and rheological properties of selected lubricant compositions. A vegetable oil base (rapeseed oil) was used to prepare vegetable lubricants, which were then thickened with lithium stearate, calcium stearate, aluminum stearate, amorphous silica, and montmorillonite. Based on the results of the tribological tests of selected lubricating compositions, it was found that calcium stearate and montmorillonite have the most beneficial effect on the anti-wear properties of the tested lubricating greases, while silica thickeners (amorphous silica and montmorillonite) provide the effective anti-wear protection in compared to the lubricants produced on lithium and aluminum stearate.

The lubricating properties of the lubricants were tested under boundary friction conditions; it was found that the surface-active additives had reduced the wear mark and thus the value of the Goz/40 parameter (limiting load of wear). The introduction of a surfactant containing amide compounds into the oils and greases was highly effective in slowing down the oxidation process. Lubricants containing mono-15 ([3-(,,-dimethylbuthylamine)propyl]hexadecanamide chloride) and 15-4-15 (tetramethylene-bis [3-(,,-dimethylamine)propyl]hexadecanamide) additives were characterised by higher oxidation stability compared to the unmodified lubricants.

The diffusing wave spectroscopy (DWS) method made it possible to identify changes in the dynamics of the free movement of particles in the grease under the influence of temperature, which changed the viscoelastic properties of the grease. Changes in the parameters determined by DWS method influenced changes in the chemical structure, which was confirmed by Raman spectroscopy, determining the integral intensity of the unsaturated to saturated bond bands found in the grease. The aim of this study was to assess whether electrical parameters (capacitance and conductivity) of fresh engine oils-tested over a wide range of measurement voltage frequencies-can be used for oil quality assessment and its identification, based on physicochemical properties. The study encompassed 41 commercial engine oils with different quality ratings (American Petroleum Institute (API) and European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA)). Nanoindentation is one of the methods that allows for determining the fracture properties of brittle materials. In this article, the authors present the possibility of the fracture toughness coefficient calculation of ceramic-based coatings doped by metal (W, Cr) by using the nanoindentation method with the Berkovich diamond indenter. The paper presents results of testing the resistance of chain wheels made of alloyed austempered ductile iron (ADI) with various content of retained austenite and subjected to shot peening, to the dynamic and abrasive wear by solid particles. The impact of the additional environmental factor-external dynamic forces-accompanying the operation of the chain wheels in the presence of the quartz particles has a synergistic effect on the abrasive wear in the contact area between the wheels and the chain links for all the considered variants, except for the ADI with the structure of the upper ausferrite. Based on the results obtained, it was found that the abrasive wear by solid particles increased and that the hardness of the surface layer of the chain wheels subjected to shot peening decreased.

An alumina-toughened zirconia (ATZ) material, fabricated using a procedure consisting of the common sintering of two different zirconia powders, was tested using the ball-on-disc method in a temperature range between room temperature and 500 °C. Corundum balls were used as a counterpart. The ATZ composite behaviour during tests was compared with that of commonly used α-alumina and tetragonal zirconia sintered samples.

During the direct touch of the inverter output voltage or with the ungrounded shield of the cable connecting the inverter to the motor or other type of load, the nonsinusoidal ground currents with a basic harmonic frequency between 1.5 and 16 kHz, flow via a human's body. Here was proved that Residual Current Device (RCD) ([Formula: see text] = 30 mA) does not switch off the power supply when a ground current with a value of about some hundred milliamps occurs.
