Background: This study evaluated the long surgical gauze (SurG) technique as a liver retraction method in laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG). Traditional methods involve the Nathanson retractor, associated with ischemia and necrosis complications. In addition, these techniques require an additional trocar with an incision that increases postoperative pain.

Schwannomas commonly occur in the head and neck region but are rarely seen in the gastrointestinal tract; the stomach and small intestine are the most commonly involved sites. These tumors are usually misdiagnosed as gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) before histopathological confirmation due to radiological similarity. GI schwannomas show positivity for S100 protein and vimentin but are negative for CD 117 and CD 34, which helps in differentiating the tumor from GISTs.

Background: Liver retraction management in laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) is challenging for surgeons, especially in patients with enlarged livers. Traditional methods, such as the Nathanson retractor (NR), often necessitate additional incisions, potentially increasing liver enzymes and increasing the risk of complications. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of the use of a Veress needle (VN), an alternative liver retraction technique, in LSG surgery compared with NR.

Image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT) systems using ionizing radiation may increase the risk of secondary cancer and normal tissue toxicity due to additional radiation exposure caused by large field sizes or repeated scans during X-ray imaging. As an alternative to these modalities, surface-guided radiotherapy (SGRT) systems which do not employ ionizing radiation have been developed. This study presents a comprehensive performance evaluation of the Varian Identify SGRT system by using an anthropomorphic Alderson Rando phantom in three different aspects: (a) the accuracy and reproducibility of the system in different regions of interest (ROI) for varying couch displacements, (b) the setup accuracy of the system for patient positioning based on different computed tomography (CT) slice thicknesses, and (c) the potential influence of obstructing SGRT cameras by the gantry on the system's overall accuracy and reproducibility.

Objective: The liver is a critical organ at risk during right breast radiotherapy (RT). Liver function tests (LFTs) such as alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), and gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT) serve as biochemical markers for hepatobiliary damage. In this multicenter cross-sectional study, the effects of liver dose-volume on changes in LFTs pre- and post-RT in patients treated for right breast cancer were evaluated.

Objective: The thromboinflammatory process is considered to play a role in the pathogenesis and prognosis of cerebral sinus vein thrombosis (CSVT). The purpose of the study was to compare the thromboinflammatory parameters between individuals with CSVT and healty controls. Additionally, the study sought to compare these parameters among CSVT subgroups with and without haemorrhage, as well as with and without papilledema.

Purpose: To evaluate the clinical outcomes and quality of life following implantation of PanOptix toric intraocular lens (IOL) and to compare the outcomes following femtosecond laser assisted cataract surgery (FLACS) and standard cataract surgery (SCS).
Methods: This comparative retrospective study included 79 eyes of 55 patients underwent cataract or refractive lens exchange surgery between April 2017 and January 2020 in Bayindir Hospital and Kaskaloglu Eye Hospital. Corneal (CA) and refractive astigmatism (RA), uncorrected visual acuities for distant, intermediate, and near (UDVA, UIVA, and UNVA), low contrast distance visual acuity, rotational stability, defocus curves, photopic and mesopic contrast sensitivity (CS), visual function-14 (VF-14) test, presence of dysphotopsia, and need for spectacles were evaluated at postoperative third month.

Introduction: One of the most important aspects of inappropriate antibiotic use among general surgeons in Turkey is the use of surgical antibiotic prophylaxis (SP). In order to shed light on the current situation, we conducted a survey of general surgeons in our country. Our aim was to evaluate the approach taken by our general surgeons in prescribing SP, while providing data pertinent to the effectiveness of the 'Rational Drug Use' (AIK) national action plan.
