Eating- and Weight-Related Disorders in the Armed Forces.

Background/objectives: Like in the general population, the prevalences of eating- and weight-related health issues in the armed forces are increasing. Relevant medical conditions include the eating disorders (EDs) anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and avoidant restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID), as well as body dysmorphic disorder, muscle dysmorphia, and the relative energy deficiency in sport (RED-S) syndrome.

Methods: We performed a narrative literature review on eating- and weight-related disorders in the armed forces.

The Impact of the Dialysis Event Prevention Bundle on the Reduction in Dialysis Event Rate in Patients with Catheters: A Retrospective and Prospective Cohort Study.

Dialysis-associated events such as bloodstream infections represent serious complications for hemodialysis patients, with the potential to increase morbidity and mortality. To assess the impact of implementing a comprehensive bundle of evidence-based practice on reducing dialysis event rates among catheter dialysis patients at Prince Mansour Military Hospital Dialysis Center. The study enrolled 111 hemodialysis participants.

Characterization of Serum Cytokine Patterns in Frequent-Exacerbation Asthma: Implications for Phenotyping and Management.

(1) Background: Asthma exacerbations represent significant clinical events, however, the underlying inflammatory mechanisms and cytokine profiles in patients with frequent exacerbations remain incompletely understood; (2) Methods: In this prospective, cross-sectional study of 120 stable asthma patients, we compared the serum concentrations of eight key cytokines (IL-4, IL-12, IL-13, IL-17, IFN-α, IFN-γ, TNF-α, and IL-1β) between two groups: 60 patients with frequent exacerbations (≥ 2 events per year) and 60 matched controls with few exacerbations (1 event per year); (3) Results: Patients with frequent exacerbations showed significantly higher serum concentrations of IL-4 and IL-13 ( < 0.05), along with an increased prevalence of allergic history and comorbidities (chronic rhinosinusitis, GERD, OSA; all < 0.05).

Prevalence of anxiety disorders among visitors at a military primary health center in UAE.

Background: Anxiety disorders are common. However, individuals suffering from anxiety disorders often do not seek treatment. These disorders impose a high individual and societal burden, especially on military personnel and their families, and place a significant burden on healthcare systems as care is often sought from primary care physicians rather than specialized professionals.

Automatic MRI-TRUS Fusion Technique for Transperineal Biopsy Guidance: From Preoperative Planning to Intraoperative Navigation.

Background: Targeted and systematic transperineal biopsy of lesions guided by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and transrectal ultrasonography (TRUS) fusion technique may optimize the biopsy procedure and enhance the detection of prostate cancer. We described the transperineal biopsy guided by an automatic MRI-TRUS fusion technique, and evaluated the accuracy and feasibility of this method in a prospective single-center study.

Methods: The proposed method focuses on automating the delineation of prostate contours in both the MRI and TRUS images, the registration and fusion of MRI and TRUS images, the generation and visualiztion of the systematic biopsy cores in their corresponding locations within the 2D and the 3D views, as well as the computation and visualiztion of needle trajectories from preoperative planning to intraoperative navigation.

Treatable traits in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis: focus on respiratory tract infections-a systematic review and a meta-analysis.

Background: Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a progressive, deadly lung disease with several factors, including respiratory tract infections (RTI), for disease worsening. There's no comprehensive data on RTI incidence in IPF patients across different therapies, including antifibrotic (nintedanib or pirfenidone), investigative or placebo treatments.

Methods: A systematic search of databases Medline, EMBASE, Cochrane Central, Web of Science and Scopus was conducted on September 30th 2024 (PROSPERO registration number: CRD42023484213).

Comparing and assessing physical activity and sedentary behaviour guidelines for different populations with and without chronic conditions and/or disabilities: a systematic review protocol.

Physical activity guidelines targeting different populations with and without chronic diseases or disabilities are required to meet the diverse functional and physiological needs experienced by different subgroups of people to achieve optimal health benefits. As the importance of physical activity guidelines in promoting optimal health and well-being becomes increasingly recognised, there is a critical need for their systematic evaluation to ensure they remain effective, applicable and aligned with evolving health needs and scientific insights. This study aims to systematically review, critically evaluate, and compare global physical activity and sedentary behaviour guidelines on frequency, intensity, time, and type of exercise for adults, pregnant and postpartum women, and people living with chronic conditions and/or disabilities.

Defining the relationship between clinician-rated ECOG performance status and patient-reported health-related quality of life scores in men with metastatic hormone-naïve prostate cancer.

Background: Performance status and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) are important parameters in the management of metastatic prostate cancer. The clinician-rated Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status (ECOG-PS) may not relate with the patient-reported HRQoL because the later puts into consideration some aspects of health that are not captured by the former. The aim of this study is to define the relationship between clinician-rated ECOG-PS and the patient-reported HRQoL in men with metastatic hormone-naïve prostate cancer (mPCa).

Percutaneous pulmonary valve implantation guided by three-dimensional rotational angiography.

Objectives: To describe the workflow and value of three-dimensional rotational angiography (3DRA) in percutaneous pulmonary valve implantation (PPVI).

Background: 3DRA offers visualization of the entire topography in the chest and may enhance safety and reduce the risk for complications in PPVI through improved pre-procedural planning and per-procedural guidance.

Methods: All PPVI procedures with the use of 3DRA performed between August 2011 and December 2022 were reviewed.

Challenges in Diagnosing Hepatic Sarcoidosis: A Case Report.

Methods: This prospective cross-sectional survey-based study was conducted by the Punjab Institute of Neurosciences, targeting post-graduate neuroscience residents throughout Pakistan during January and February, 2024.
