Multimodality Imaging in Cardiomyopathies.

Cardiomyopathy, which is shortly defined as a disease of the myocardium, has a broad definition that includes many different diagnoses. Recent advances in cardiac imaging techniques, including basic and advanced echocardiography, computed tomography, nuclear medicine, and cardiac magnetic resonance, allow for a more accurate evaluation of volumes and thickness of cardiac chambers, systolic and diastolic function of the ventricules, and tissue structure. Multimodality imaging often provides the first clinical suspicion for specific etiologies, especially when the medical and family history is unclear, by identification of red flags of underlying systemic diseases.

Secukinumab May Be an Effective Treatment Option for Axial Spondyloarthritis and Psoriatic Arthritis Patients with a History of Malignancy: Multicenter Real-Life Experience from Turkey.

: Secukinumab is a monoclonal antibody against interleukin 17 approved for patients with axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA), psoriatic arthritis (PsA), and psoriasis. Treating axSpA and PsA patients with a history of malignancy is a challenge. While initial results on the applicability of secukinumab in this patient group are positive, the number of studies on this topic remains limited.

Therapeutic implications of etiology-specific diagnosis of early-onset developmental and epileptic encephalopathies (EO-DEEs): A nationwide Turkish cohort study.

Objective: To evaluate the etiology-specific diagnosis of early-onset developmental epileptic encephalopathies (EO-DEEs) in a nationwide Turkish cohort to determine the implications for therapeutic management.

Methods: The cohort comprised 1450 patients who underwent EO-DEE. The utility of genetic testing was assessed with respect to the initial phases of next generation sequencing (NGS) (2005-2013) and the current NGS era (2014-2022).

Limbal graft transplantation: a rare implementation in pediatric limbal stem cell deficiency.

Purpose: To evaluate limbal graft transplantation success in pediatric patients with chemical injury-induced limbal stem cell deficiency (LSCD) using the 'LSCD Working Group' staging system.

Methods: Medical records of 11 eyes of 11 children who underwent limbal graft transplantation (limbal autograft/limbal allograft) were included. Surgical success was defined as improvement in the post-operative 1st year LSCD stage.

Extracorporeal carbon dioxide removal for acute hypercapnic respiratory failure in a child with cystic fibrosis.

Background: Acute respiratory failure is a prevalent condition in childhood with a high rate of mortality. Invasive mechanical ventilation support may be required for the management of these patients. Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is a method used when ventilation support is insufficient.

Background: Breast ptosis may occur with increasing age, after pregnancy, after breastfeeding, or after weight loss. Understanding the vascular structure of the breast and nipple-areolar complex has guided the reshaping of the breast and thus paved the way for the emergence of different techniques. This study aimed to evaluate the results of tunneled glandular flaps used to increase projection in patients undergoing breast lift surgery.

Protruding ears are a condition that has social and psychological consequences due to its physical appearance and one of the main causes of peer bullying at young ages (2). While various surgical methods exist to address prominent ears, the options for correcting the lobule are relatively scarce.

Cognition as a parameter in monitoring the effect of multiple sclerosis relapse treatment: A prospective controlled study.

Background: Cognitive evaluation was considered to be very important in the relapse period, on the basis of the presence of isolated cognitive attacks and the necessity of monitoring the patient both physically and cognitively.

Materials And Methods: People with MS (pwMS) who were hospitalized during relapse were included in the study. All MS patients were evaluated by the neurologist with Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS), The 9 Hole Peg Test (9HPT) and the Timed 25-Foot Walk Test (T25-FWT).

Objective: Studies have shown that theory of mind, emotion regulation and pragmatic abilities are negatively affected in people with obsessive-compulsive disorder OCD). We aimed to investigate theory of mind (ToM) abilities, social responsiveness, pragmatic language, and emotion regulation skills in children with OCD and to compare them to healthy controls.

Methods: This study was designed as a single-center, cross-sectional, case-control study.

Tumor Volume Staging Provides a Comparable Stratifying for Laryngeal Squamous Cell Cancer According to T Stages.

The prognostic significance of tumor volume (TV) in laryngeal squamous cell cancer (LSCC) has been demonstrated previously. Still, its clinical use is uncertain, and a method for accurate staging for TV is lacking. This study aimed to develop an objective staging and determine the effect of tumor volume on disease outcome after surgical treatment for LSCC.

The utility of standing knee radiographs for detection of lipohemarthrosis: comparison with supine horizontal beam radiographs.

Objectives: Lipohemarthrosis is a key finding in acute trauma patients and indicates an intra-articular fracture. The horizontal beam lateral radiography with supine position is known to be the best technique to demonstrate knee lipohemarthrosis. Our main purpose was to compare the sensitivity of supine and standing lateral knee radiographs to detect lipohemarthrosis.

Perfusion index in newborns with CHD without clinical signs of hypoperfusion and heart failure: comparison with healthy newborns.

Introduction: Peripheral perfusion index has been proposed as a possible method for detecting circulatory impairment. We aimed to determine the normal range of peripheral perfusion index in healthy newborns and compare it with that of newborns with CHD.

Methods: Right-hand saturation and right-hand peripheral perfusion index levels were recorded, and physical examination and echocardiography were performed in newborns who were 0-28 days old and whom were evaluated in our paediatric cardiology outpatient clinic.

Nasal Sill Flap for Lip Lifting.

Background:  Over the years, different techniques have been developed to reduce the number of incisions and scars in subnasal lip lifting and to increase the amount of lifting. The aim of this study was to present a new technique to hide the scars at the nasal base in subnasal lip lifting procedures and to review the literature.

Methods:  The file of patients who underwent subnasal lip lifting between January 2019 and January 2021 were examined.

Piccolo in transcatheter PDA closure multi-centre study from premature to adolescent children.

In this multi-centre study, the mid- to long-term efficacy and safety of the Amplatzer Piccolo Occluder in patent ductus arteriosus closure in premature and term infants as well as children were discussed. Methods. Between 2016 and 2021, 645 patients, 152 of whom were less than 1 month old, underwent ductus closure with the Piccolo device from five different centres in Turkey.

A new risk factor for predicting stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation: morning blood pressure surge.

Background: Stroke, the most feared complication in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF), is still an important cause of mortality and morbidity. In our study, we aimed to investigate the frequency of stroke and related parameters in patients with atrial fibrillation, for whom 24-h ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) was performed.

Method: A total of 282 patients with permanent AF were included in this study.

Evaluation of the Effect of Subciliary Approaches on Lower Eyelid Position in Infraorbital Rim Fractures.
