Background: Increased body mass index (BMI) adversely affects the mechanics of the musculoskeletal system. It is known that obese people have poorer postural stability and mobility-related outcomes compared to normal weight people, but there is limited research comparing overweight and class 1 obese people, two consecutive and prevalent BMI categories.
Aims: To compare postural stability, functional mobility, and risk of falling and developing disability between overweight and obese women, and to investigate the relationship of BMI and body weight with the outcomes.

A search for exotic decays of the Higgs boson () with a mass of 125 to a pair of light pseudoscalars is performed in final states where one pseudoscalar decays to two quarks and the other to a pair of muons or leptons. A data sample of proton-proton collisions at corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 recorded with the CMS detector is analyzed. No statistically significant excess is observed over the standard model backgrounds.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a targeted treatment method that utilizes a photosensitizer (PS) to induce cytotoxicity in malignant and non-malignant tumors. Optimization of PDT requires investigation of the selectivity of PS for the target tissues, irradiating light source, irradiation wavelengths, fluence rate, fluence, illumination mode, and overall treatment plan. In this study, we developed the Multi-mode Automatized Well-plate PDT LED Laboratory Irradiation System (MAWPLIS), an innovative device that automates time-consuming well plate light dosage/PS dose measurement experiment.

Background: Rotator cuff tears commonly cause shoulder pain and functional impairment, prompting surgical intervention such as miniopen and arthroscopic methods, each with distinct benefits. This study aimed to compare the clinical outcomes and complications of these two approaches.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 165 patients who underwent rotator cuff repair using either arthroscopic-assisted mini-open or full arthroscopic approaches.

With advances in technology, the emission of radiofrequency radiation (RFR) into the environment, particularly from mobile devices, has become a growing concern. Tyro 3, Axl, and Mer (TAM) receptors and their ligands are essential for spermatogenesis and testosterone production. RFR has been shown to induce testicular cell apoptosis by causing inflammation and disrupting homeostasis.

Objective: Bruton tyrosine kinase inhibition in cardiac tissue causes inhibition of the PI3K-AKT signaling pathway, which is responsible for protecting cardiac tissue during stress. Therefore, there is an increase in the risk of arrhythmia. This study explores the prediction of that risk with the Age-Creatinine-Ejection Fraction (ACEF) score as a simple scoring system based on the components of age, creatinine, and ejection fraction.

Postburn upper extremity contractures can greatly diminish the quality of life. To successfully manage these contractures and achieve successful functional outcomes, an optimal surgical method should be planned to address all affected tissues on the extremities. Conventional soft tissue transfers after releasing the contracture, such as skin grafts or flaps, may be insufficient.

Introduction: The objective of this study was to evaluate the usefulness of the serum biomarkers myeloperoxidase (MPO), paraoxonase (PON), and plasma asprosin in acute myocardial infarction (AMI) diagnosis and assess their compatibility with routinely screened cardiac biomarkers.
Methods: This study was conducted using a prospective cross-sectional design and included 90 patients, consisting of 60 patients diagnosed with AMI (30 with ST-segment elevation and 30 with non-ST-segment elevation on ECG) and 30 controls (without a diagnosis of AMI). Changes in the levels of cardiac biomarkers (Hs-cTnI, CK, CK-MB), lipid profile (TC, TG, LDL, HDL), MPO, PON, asprosin, and routine biochemical parameters of patients were evaluated.

The demand for Janus Kinase-2 (JAK2) testing has been disproportionate to the low yield of positive results, which highlights the need for more discerning test strategies. The aim of this study is to introduce an artificial intelligence application as a more rational approach for testing JAK2 mutations in cases of erythrocytosis. Test results were sourced from samples sent to a tertiary hospital's genetic laboratory between 2017 and 2023, meeting 2016 World Health Organization criteria for JAK2V617F mutation testing.
