COVID-19 in pediatric patients undergoing chronic dialysis and kidney transplantation.

The study aims to present the incidence of COVID-19 in pediatric patients undergoing renal replacement therapy (RRT) and to compare the severity and outcomes of the disease between the dialysis and kidney transplant (KTx) groups. This multicenter observational study was conducted between 1 April and 31 December 2020 in Istanbul. Members of the Istanbul branch of the Turkish Pediatric Nephrology Association were asked to report all confirmed cases of COVID-19 who were on RRT, as well as the number of prevalent RRT patients under the age of 20.

Background: Arthroscopic rotator cuff surgery is an effective treatment for rotator cuff tears with the considered use of double-row repair techniques becoming popular in the last decade. We aim to compare the effects of double- and single-row arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs (ARCR) on repair integrity (RI) and acromiohumeral distance (AHD).

Methods: In this observational study, we retrospectively identified 98 patients with degenerative rotator cuff tear treated with arthroscopic rotator cuff repair between 2016 and 2019.

Ecchymosis and Coldness in Peripheral Varicose Vein Patients: Observations From VEIN-TURKEY Study.

The purpose of this subgroup analysis is to investigate and analyze the venous leg symptoms including sense of coldness and sign of ecchymosis in patients with or without peripheral varicose veins (PVVs) from VEIN-TURKEY study population. A total of 600 patients, who were enrolled to VEIN-TURKEY study recently, were included in this subgroup analysis. Patients were examined clinically for the presence and severity of PVV and varicocele.

A bibliometric analysis of publications on trauma in critical care medicine during 1980-2018: A holistic view.

Background: There is not a holistic bibliometric study evaluating the publications in the literature even though trauma is a paramount subject in the field of critical care. This study aimed to investigate the important articles and journals receiving the most citations and publishing the most articles, revealing international cooperation and uncovering trend topics in this subject as a consequence of analyzing articles on trauma in the field of critical care published between 1980 and 2018 using bibliometric analysis methods.

Methods: Publication scan in this study was performed using Web of Science (WoS) database.

Symptoms in Dilating Venous Disease.

Lower extremity venous diseases or insufficiency include clinically deteriorating conditions with morphological and functional alterations of the venous system, including venous hypertension, vascular wall structural abnormality, and venous valvar incompetency in association with an inflammatory process. In fact, the same pathophysiological processes are the main underlying mechanisms of other venous insufficiencies in different vascular territories such as Peripheral Varicose Vein (PVV), varicocele, Pelvic Varicosities or Congestion Syndrome (PCS) and Hemorrhoidal Disease (HD). Regarding the anatomical continuity of lower extremity venous system, urogenital system (pampiniform plexus in male and broad ligament and ovarian veins in female) and anorectal venous system, it is reasonable to expect common symptoms such as pain, burning sensation, pruritis, swelling, which arise directly from the involved tissue itself.

Symptoms of patients or the way of presenting complaints by the patients may be indefinite, obscure or misleading for the diagnosis of supraventricular tachycardia. The content of the history shows variability depending on the present symptoms, patient concerns and priority. Herein, an unusual case of a young woman suffering from chilling-like attacks for one and half years and treated by slow pathway ablation has been presented.

Association between atrial septal aneurysm and arrhythmias.

This study aimed to assess the association of atrial septal aneurysm (ASA) with cardiac arrhythmias by comparing patients with ASA with a control group with non-ASA, matched for age and gender. 641 patients with ASA who fulfilled the inclusion criteria were enrolled into the study. The control group consisted of 641 patients without ASA.

Echocardiographic Findings in Patients with Atrial Septal Aneurysm: A Prospective Case-Control Study.

Background: Atrial septal aneurysm (ASA) is a congenital deformity of the interatrial septum with a prevalence of 1-2% in the adult population. Although ASA has been supposed to be an incidental finding in echocardiographic examination, its structural and clinical associations have gained an increasing interest.

Aim: To investigate and compare the clinical features and echocardiographic parameters between ASA patients and age- and gender-matched control group patients.

Effects of Modic Type 1 Changes in the Vertebrae on Low Back Pain.

Objective: The present study examined the physical extent of Modic type 1 (MT1) changes and other phenotypic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings in the vertebrae of patients with low back pain (LBP) and MT1 changes. We also identified any correlations of these findings with the severity of pain and the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI). The relationship between the presence of pain and MT1 changes has been examined in several studies.

The Treatment of Cleidocranial Dysostosis (Scheuthauer-Marie-Sainton Syndrome), a Rare Form of Skeletal Dysplasia, Accompanied by Spinal Deformities: A Review of the Literature and Two Case Reports.

Cleidocranial dysostosis is a skeletal dysplasia inherited in an autosomal dominant manner and may lead to complications such as scoliosis and kyphosis, concurrent with various orthopedic involvements. Since concurrent spinal deformities are of progressive nature, surgical treatment may be necessary. In addition to other orthopedic problems, possible accompanying complications such as atlanto-axial subluxation, myelopathy, syringomyelia, congenital spine deformities, spondylosis, and spondylolisthesis should be kept in mind while planning for the treatment of scoliosis and kyphosis.
