Objective: To determine whether serum neurogranin (NRGN), glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), and calcium-binding protein S100 beta (S100B) levels are associated with traumatic intracranial lesions compared to computed tomography (CT) findings of patients with mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI).
Patients And Methods: The cross-sectional study cohort included 48 patients who were admitted to the Emergency Department with a complaint of mTBI, a Glasgow Coma Scale score of 14-15, and at least one symptom of head trauma (i.e.

Background: Fragmented QRS (fQRS) complex is an electrocardiographic pattern which reflects myocardial scarring. We aimed to investigate the relationship between the presence of fragmented QRS (fQRS) on electrocardiogram (ECG) and plasma galectin-3 levels in patients with heart failure (HF) and severely decreased left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF ≤ 35%).
Methods: We prospectively enrolled 125 symptomatic HF patients (NYHA class II-III) with severely reduced LVEF (≤35%).

Background And Aims: One of the objectives of the ESC-EORP EUROASPIRE V survey is to determine how well European guidelines on the management of dyslipidaemias are implemented in coronary patients.
Methods: Standardized methods were used by trained technicians to collect information on 7824 patients from 130 centers in 27 countries, from the medical records and at a visit at least 6 months after hospitalization for a coronary event. All lipid measurements were performed in one central laboratory.

Introduction: While the associations of genetic, reproductive and environmental factors with the timing of natural menopause have been extensively investigated, few epidemiological studies have specifically examined their association with premature (<40 years) or early natural menopause (40-45 years).
Aim: The aim of this position statement is to provide evidence on the predictors of premature and early natural menopause, as well as recommendations for the management of premature and early menopause and future research.
Materials And Methods: Literature review and consensus of expert opinion.
Protein-bound uremic toxins (PBUTs) play a role in the multisystem disease that children on hemodialysis (HD) are facing, but little is known about their levels and protein binding (%PB). In this study, we evaluated the levels and %PB of six PBUTs cross-sectionally in a large pediatric HD cohort ( = 170) by comparing these with healthy and non-dialysis chronic kidney disease (CKD) stage 4-5 ( = 24) children. In parallel β2-microglobulin (β2M) and uric acid (UA) were evaluated.

Leiomyomas are benign, slow-growing, smooth muscle tumors, which can occur at many locations in the body. The male genitourinary tract is seldom affected and scrotal leiomyomas are extremely rare. Most of the scrotal leiomyomas are localized in the testis, epididymis, spermatic cord, subcutaneous tissue, tunica albuginea, and scrotal skin and only a few of them are reported in the origin of isolated tissue without paratesticular structures in the paratesticular region.

The aims of the present study were to evaluate the efficacy and tolerability of ledipasvir/sofosbuvir (LDV/SOF) with or without ribavirin in the treatment of chronic hepatitis C (CHC) in patients with advanced liver disease and to analyse whether the use of LDV/SOF treatment is associated with a new occurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) during and after LDV/SOF treatment. The Turkish Early Access Program provided LDV/SOF treatment to a total of 200 eligible CHC patients with advanced liver disease. The median follow-up period was 22 months.

The most serious complication after major liver resection is liver failure. Depending on preoperative liver function, a future liver remnant of 25%-40% is considered sufficient to avoid postoperative liver failure. A new technique known as portal vein ligation combined with in situ splitting has been developed to obtain rapid liver hypertrophy.

Purpose Of Review: Neurological involvement in Behçet's syndrome is defined as 'the occurrence of neurological symptoms and signs in a patient who meets the International Diagnostic Criteria for BS not otherwise explained by any other known systemic or neurological disease or treatment, and in whom objective abnormalities consistent with neuro-Behçet's syndrome (NBS) are detected either on neurological examination, neuroimaging studies (magnetic resonance imaging [MRI]), and/or on cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) examination'. Given that the neurological involvement of Behçet's syndrome carries a poor prognosis, we aimed to describe the differential diagnosis of NBS and highlight the different radiological patterns together with the treatment options.
Recent Findings: Two distinct MRI patterns of spinal cord involvement in Behçet's syndrome according to T2-weighted axial images were described: 'Bagel Sign' pattern: a central lesion with hypointense core and hyperintense rim with or without contrast enhancement; and 'Motor Neuron' pattern: a symmetric involvement of the anterior horn cells.

Introduction: Whether menopause increases the risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) independently of ageing has been a matter of debate. Controversy also exists about the benefits and risks of menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) in women with T2DM.
Aims: To summarise the evidence on 1) the effect of menopause on metabolic parameters and the risk of T2DM, 2) the effect of T2DM on age at menopause, 3) the effect of MHT on the risk of T2DM, and 4) the management of postmenopausal women with T2DM.

Respiratory syncytial virus is one of the major causes of respiratory tract infections during infancy with high rates of hospitalization and mortality during the first years of life. It is the most common cause of acute bronchiolitis and viral pneumonia in children below two years of age and second the most common cause of postneonatal infant mortality all around the world following malaria. In addition, the virus has been causally linked to recurrent wheezing and associated with pediatric asthma.

Hyalinizing trabecular tumor was first described by Carney et al. (1) in 1987 and is a rare benign tumor of the thyroid gland that shares some of the microscopic features of medullary and papillary thyroid carcinoma. Hyalinizing trabecular tumor derives from follicular cells, and it is characterized by an apparent trabecular pattern and intratrabecular hyalinization.
